Saturation Saturday was about more than making arrests — it was about prevention, visibility, and getting everyone home safely. ❤️

This weekend, MADD Hawai‘i stood alongside the Honolulu Police Department during Saturation Saturday. Throughout the night, we thanked drivers who made the responsible choice to drive sober, while officers also identified and arrested individuals suspected of driving impaired.

Checkpoints and increased enforcement visibility matter. Seeing officers on the road, sobriety checkpoints ahead, and MADD present in the community sends a clear message that impaired driving is being taken seriously. That visibility can make someone think twice, call for a ride, hand over their keys, or make a safer decision before ever getting behind the wheel.

An arrest can remove an impaired driver from the road, but prevention can stop that dangerous decision from happening in the first place.

Thank you to the Honolulu Police Department, the MADD Hawai‘i team, and every driver who planned ahead and chose a sober ride home.

The goal isn’t more DUI arrests. The goal is fewer impaired drivers on our roads.

MADD Hawaiʻi is proud to stand alongside law enforcement, community partners, volunteers, and advocates across the country to raise awareness and help prevent impaired driving.

Every impaired-driving crash is 100% preventable. If your plans involve alcohol tonight, make your safe ride plan before the night begins. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare or taxi, or stay overnight.

High-visibility enforcement isn’t just about making arrests—it’s about deterring dangerous decisions, removing impaired drivers from our roads, and getting everyone home safely.

Please make the right choice tonight: Drive sober. Protect your community. Save a life.

Why I Walk ❤️

I walk for Travis, but I also walk because I’m a victim too.

I survived an impaired-driving crash that could have easily taken my life. I was given a second chance that not everyone gets, and I don’t want to waste it. I can’t change what happened to us, but I can choose what I do with the life I was fortunate enough to keep.

That’s why I’m walking toward something bigger: a future with no more impaired driving.

I walk for the people we’ve lost. I walk for survivors. I walk for the families and friends who carry the consequences of one decision for the rest of their lives. And I walk because these crashes are preventable.

But you don’t have to be a victim or survivor to have a reason to walk.

Walk for yourself. Walk for someone you know. Walk in memory of someone you’ve lost. Walk for someone who survived. Or simply walk because you believe no other family should have to experience this.

I’m asking my friends, family, and anyone who believes in this mission to join me for Move With MADD Hawaii. Even if you aren’t in Hawaii, you can register and participate virtually from wherever you are.

Join Team Townsend, find your reason, and be part of the movement.

I got a second chance. I’m using mine to walk toward a world with no more impaired driving.
