Founded in the 1930’s by Yonoichi “Yono” Kitagawa for residents of the fishing villages of Kaka’ako and reorganized in 1980 by Masa and George Nakaoka for the youth and young adults of the Kalihi area, Kaka’ako Boxing Club has been an institution in Honolulu for decades and plans to continue with its mission to serve the community. Kaka’ako Boxing Club’s mission is to continue the legacy of Masa a

nd George Nakaoka by providing underserved and at-risk youth and young adults with mentorship and a safe, judgement-free and positive environment to develop confidence, coordination, healthy habits and life skills through the sport of boxing.
