Happening today for Oahu Division BU1 and BU10 members, we are holding ratification meetings on Memorandums of Understanding (MOU), Memorandums of Agreement (MOA), and Supplemental Agreements. If you haven't stopped by to vote yet, come to the Keehi Lagoon Memorial before 4:30pm today. We will have another ratification meeting at Keehi Lagoon Memorial on Monday, Sept. 22nd.
For Maui Division BU1 and BU10 members, your ratification meetings begin tomorrow and continue the rest of the week and next week. Check our Events page for the dates and locations: https://www.upwhawaii.org/events/
What are MOUs, MOAs, and Supplemental Agreements?
MOUs, MOAs, and Supplemental Agreements are separate agreements outside of the master contracts that are specific to individual units, multiple units, or entire jurisdictions. The reason these were created is that certain groups of employees have working conditions specific to their job that the master contract does not address. Instead of rubber-stamping these old agreements, you will be asked to vote on whether you want to keep these agreements in place or let them expire. At these ratification meetings, depending on your workplace, we will review the existing agreements, their scope, and then you can cast separate votes for each. Each agreement affects only certain members, and only the affected members will be allowed to vote on those agreements.
These agreements directly affect you, your job, and your working conditions. Your Employer has been notified and you are allowed 2 hours during your work shift to come to one of these meetings, ask questions, and cast your vote. If you have any questions, please contact your Division office.
Mahalo to our Hawaii Division and Kauai Division members for coming to the ratification meetings earlier this week and last week!
