"One Day, One Team" Honolulu
RESCHEDULED

Tropical Storm Ana has passed and we hope that you and your families fared well in the wet weather. The ICAN "One Day, One Team" Honolulu service project at Waikiki Elementary has been re-scheduled to Saturday, November 1 2014 from 3:00-5:30 p.m. We hope that you are able to make this new date!

Please register here by Wednesday, October 29 for a free t-shirt. **

Waikiki Elementary School - Waikiki Food Farm
Date: Saturday, November 1, 2014
Time: 3:00 - 5:30 p.m.
What to bring: ICAN Waiver (see below), water bottle, gloves, sunscreen/sunglasses/hat
Tools to bring: Rakes, pruning shears
What to wear: ICAN shirt, comfortable attire and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty
Schedule/work: 15 minute gathering/break up into groups, pruning fruit trees, general garden maintenance, laying compost/fertilizer, possible building project
Address: 3710 Leahi Ave, Honolulu HI 96815
Parking: Front parking lot of school, overflow will go to back lot of school

**If you previously registered as a guest, you DO NOT need to register. Please complete the ICAN waiver and bring it with you to the project.

ICAN Honolulu Postponed: After careful review of the weather conditions for the weekend, tomorrow's ICAN project at Waikiki Elementary has been cancelled. Although the storm is tracking to the south, there is still a good chance of wind and rain. For your comfort, the event will be rescheduled and we will communicate the new date as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Honolulu ODOT Project description:
ICAN "One Day, One Team" Honolulu will be digging, mulching, weeding and sprucing up the Waikiki Food Farm, an on-campus garden program at Waikiki Elementary School on Saturday, October 18, from 3 - 6 p.m. The program engages students K-5 in growing food and reconnects them to their 'aina. Volunteers please wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty, your ICAN t-shirt and covered shoes. Sunscreen / sunglasses and a hat are recommended. For the summer ICAN ('Iolani Community Action Network) project, ICAN partnered with Malama Loko Ea in Haleiwa on Saturday, July 19 from 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Malama Loko Ea is a non-profit community based foundation which strives to restore, protect and preserve the fishpond as an ecosystem in order to ensure sustainable living and the preservation of Hawaiian culture. The morning included clearing foliage, rebuilding rock walls, clearing channel of sediment to reopen salt water chanel, and much more! Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who made this event a great success! Thanks also to James, Jessica, and all the folks at Mālama Loko Ea for hosting the community service workday!
