A new article from Honolulu Civil Beat highlights how students, educators, and advocates continue to push for universal free school meals—because no child should have to learn on an empty stomach.

While progress has been made, thousands of students still face barriers to accessing meals, whether it’s paperwork, eligibility gaps, or rising costs.

So much momentum at the Capitol! 🙌🌺

HB1872 and HB2360 made it all the way through the House of Representatives at the Hawaii State Legislature — AMAZING! 🎉
Now they head to the Senate side to do it all over again. Let’s keep it going!

HB2007 and HB2399 have hearings scheduled for this upcoming Tuesday — details coming soon!
For now, we just want to pause and say mahalo to every single person in our community who is watching, listening, testifying, emailing, calling, and showing up. Your advocacy matters.

These bills support Hawaiʻi’s working families and invest in our keiki, but they can’t move forward without a hearing.
