As the Diocese of Honolulu prepares to welcome Bishop-Elect Michael T. Castori, S.J., we place our hope in the Lord.

Psalm 131 is a prayer of humility and trust. It reminds us to quiet our hearts before God and to rest in His providence.

In this season of preparation and transition, may we entrust the future of our local Church to the Lord.

Israel, hope in the Lord now and forevermore.

As we continue to pray for Bishop-Elect Michael T. Castori, S.J., we turn to the words of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus.

The Suscipe Prayer is a prayer of surrender, offering everything back to God and trusting fully in His will.

May this be our prayer in this season of preparation and transition for the Diocese of Honolulu.

Take, Lord, and receive.

St. Ignatius of Loyola, pray for us.

On May 21, 1864, St. Damien of Molokaʻi was ordained a priest at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace in Honolulu.

His priesthood became a gift of mercy, sacrifice, and love for Hawaiʻi.

As our Diocese prepares to receive new priests tomorrow, we pray for our ordinandi. May they be holy, faithful, and courageous priests for Christ and His Church.

Pierre Marie-Joseph Coudrin accepted the mission for the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts, and Vatican approval followed on February 1, 1826. With these first steps, the Catholic mission to Hawaiʻi was beginning to take shape.
