Remember when we shared about our “Seed to Tree” nursery volunteer day? Well, reporting back: 🏆great success🏆! Mahalo to all of the amazing volunteers who came to learn more about our nursery work; together, we sowed and up-potted over 600 future trees that will make their way back into the forest this season 🌱

Just because we’re out of planting season doesn’t mean the work stops! We’ve reached our dryer summer months and that means there’s a lot to do to keep our 25/26 plantings alive and thriving!

Join us for our July Community Workday to help us keep Kīpuka clear and w**ded, and our little plant friends watered and happy! 🌱💦 plenny good times on the trail to be had, so hop on in, we’ll see you Saturday!

Summer is here! ☀️🌧️💨🍃

With a mix of sunshine and showers, Kuliʻouʻou is thriving—and so are the w**ds! This season brings endless opportunities to water, w**d, and care for the thousands of native plants that are taking root because of our community.

We’d love to have you join us this month as we continue restoring native forest together. We’re also excited to launch our very first SEED TO TREE Nursery Workday on July 11, where you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how native plants are grown before they make their way into the forest.

Whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning as a familiar face, there’s a place for you in this work. 🌱

Companies, NGOs, families, friends, and community members of all ages are invited to our Saturday Community Work Day at Kuli’ou’ou Ridge Trail on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 8:00 am to 11:30 am!

Our plant of the month is Pōhinahina! Also known as Kolokolo Kahakai, this shrub is indigenous, drought, wind, and salt tolerant, and is becoming more and more popular in urban landscaping as it thrives in many different elevations and soil types. This sprawling shrub can be shaped into a hedge as it matures or used as a ground cover. It has silver leaves, small bluish-purple flowers, and it has a strong fragrance. It can be used for lei making, and also is propagated pretty easily by cuttings.

Tomorrow is the day! Our first ever Kipuka Partners workday! We are so happy to support our friends and first ever Kipuka partner, . If you would like to join us in Northshore please wear closed toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeves, and sign up at our link in bio. If you have a truck or 4 wheel drive vehicle you can park across the stream. An ATA staff member or Holomua Farms staff member can guide you on the best place to park.

What? ATA work outside of Kuli‘ou‘ou?! You heard right! We’re excited to announce a special community workday on June 6 at Holomua Farms in Waialua, marking the launch of ATA’s new Kīpuka Partnership Initiative!

Through Kīpuka Partnerships, our goal is to share ATAs experience with dryland restoration & support partners in creating and restoring native forest kīpuka—small but meaningful pockets of native habitat that strengthen watershed health, biodiversity, and community connection to ʻāina.

As a Kīpuka Partner, Holomua Farms is restoring land through reforestation with native Hawaiian plants while providing educational opportunities for guests & community members to learn about the cultural significance of responsible, place-based conservation. ATA and Holomua Farms have been planning this project for the last 6 months, so we’re stoked to be celebrating this planting milestone with our community.

So come on an adventure and help us plant some of our favorites—A‘ali‘i, ‘Ilima, Kamani and Maile—as we venture up to the North shore for some new scenery and fun! Hope to see you there!

Thanks to our amazing partners and volunteers we had a record breaking month in April with 1,000+ natives added to the trail! This month our new plants could use some tlc and we have more ready to join their friends in the forest. Please join us this Saturday, May 16 at 8:00 am at Kuli’ou’ou Ridge Trail and plant a tree!

Happy Earth Day! ATA celebrated with our record breaking community workday with 650 native plants out planted in a single morning! HUGE mahalo to all of the volunteers who came out and made this feat possible. Thank you for growing with us.
