I am concerned, and our members are concerned about the discussions we’re hearing and the number of casual comments from legislators about bankruptcy being “a good option” for Hawaiian Electric. apparently better than passing the legislation advocated by the company and by many others.⠀
⠀
I want to state in the strongest possible terms that the bankruptcy of Hawalian Electric isn’t good for anyone, except maybe for the lawyers. it certainly isn’t good for our members or for Hawaii, For our members, their families and 2,000 Hawaiian Electric retirees, it introduces an element of financial uncertainty in to their lives.⠀

Time is short and we urge senators to revive SB2922. We commend Gov. Josh Green for stepping in and urging senators to get the information they need to address their concerns so the bill can move forward. The governor was right when he said, “Our energy future and the stability and reliability of the utility is riding on this bill.”⠀
