🌺🎶 GOODTIMES TOGETHER! 🎶🌺

There’s nothing like watching our On the Rise artists feel the energy of the crowd, embrace the moment, and share the stage alongside Hawaiʻi’s music legends! 🤙🏽✨

Reliving the Goodtimes Together with Henry Kapono & Friends at Kahilu Theatre show finale, where our emerging artists had the opportunity to experience the magic of connecting with an audience and sharing their music across generations. 🎸❤️

These are the moments that help our On the Rise artists grow in confidence, find their place in Hawaiʻi’s music community, and truly shine. Because when we create opportunities for the next generation to learn, connect, and perform, we’re building a future where Hawaiʻi’s music continues to thrive.

And there’s nothing better than goodtimes together! 🌺🎶

🌺🎶 THROWBACK THURSDAY: WAHINE NIGHT AT KAPONO’S! 🎶🌺

Last Friday, we celebrated the second SOLD-OUT show in the monthly Wahine Night series at Kapono’s at the Lounge, the home of the Henry Kapono Foundation! 🤙🏽✨

Cultivated by our Next Level On The Rise artist Jenny Yim, Wahine Night is becoming something truly special. 💛 Not only are we creating a space for Hawaiʻi’s emerging female artists and songwriters to share their music, but we’re starting to see a community grow around it. Seeing familiar faces return for another show is a beautiful reminder that music does more than bring people together for one night. It gives us a reason to keep coming back.

Mahalo to Jenny, Clara Stegall, Lila Chris, and everyone who continues to show up and support these incredible artists. Wahine Night will keep coming back with more amazing music every month! 🤙🏽

🎶✨ WHAT A MAGICAL DAY OF SONGWRITING & ARTIST DEVELOPMENT. ✨🎶

We were honored to welcome the incredibly talented Kimié Miner for an On The Rise Master Class focused on the heart of songwriting: finding your voice, setting intention, and rooting yourself in the story you have to tell.

Kimié guided our up-and-coming artists through the process of looking inward and outward — grounding themselves in the place they call home, finding imagery in their own lives, and recognizing that their experiences can become the inspiration for something powerful.

She reminded our artists that their voice matters. That the songs they write can capture a moment in their lives, become medicine, and reach people in ways they may never expect.

From personal images and emotions to collaboration, she challenged the group to discover the musical strengths within each other and bring those pieces together to create a mele that captured a moment — a song rooted in place, feeling, connection, and story.

Because you are the creators. 🌺
Your stories matter.
Your voice matters.
And there is power in putting those stories into song.

Mahalo, Kimié, for sharing your wisdom, creativity, and aloha with our On The Rise artists and reminding them that sometimes the most meaningful songs are already living within us. 💚🎶

🎶✨ LAST NIGHT AT KAPONO’S ✨🎶

What an incredible night celebrating the long-awaited release of Brittni Paiva’s new album, Through the Chaos!💚

We had the chance to dive into Brittni’s creative process and hear the stories behind the album as she brought each track to life in such a unique and creative way. From using the ukulele as a songwriting tool to approaching the instrument almost like she was writing with lyrics, Brittni’s artistry and imagination truly shine through in this record.

The night was made even more special with performances and appearances from Henry Kapono, Clara Stegall, Kalaʻe + Kalena Parish, and The Brewz — a beautiful reminder of the incredible community of artists and musicians here in Hawaiʻi. 🌺🎶

Nights like this are what the Henry Kapono Foundation is all about — creating spaces where Hawaiʻi’s artists can share their music, grow their craft, and connect with the community.

Mahalo, Brittni, for sharing your music and your story with us. We’re proud to support artists like you and can’t wait to see where Through the Chaos takes you next. 💚

🎶 Music brings us together.

It creates connections, builds community, and gives us something to share across generations.

Seeing our On the Rise artists share the stage with Henry, singing Goodtimes Together, is a beautiful reminder of what music can do. In one moment, experience and emerging talent come together — sharing a song, sharing a stage, and creating memories that become part of something bigger.

At the Henry Kapono Foundation, supporting the next generation of Hawaiʻi artists is at the heart of what we do. It’s about creating opportunities for artists to find their voice, grow, connect, and carry Hawaiʻi’s music community forward.

Because music doesn’t belong to just one generation. The songs we love can live on, evolve, and bring new voices into the story.

And sometimes, the best moments are simply the ones where we’re together, singing the same song.

As Henry says, “the best is yet to come”. 🌺🎶

Tomorrow's Problem

I wrote this one the night before Ninamarie Bell Music and I played at the Manoa Valley Theatre with Henry Kapono and actually ended up playing it at that show
I was on a call with Ka'iulani and we were talking about alllll the stuff we had to get done when I got back to Big Island, and I found that the solution to most of the list was: "sounds like tomorrow's problem"
Kinda funny how a chore list can turn into something more

Anyway 72 days until that "just one night with you" turns into a lifetime of nights 💍👀
