Today we celebrate someone very special to our food pantry family, Ginny Fries, as she prepares to retire at the end of June.
Ginny has given so much of her time, kindness, and heart to serving others in our community. Her compassion, dedication, and gentle spirit have touched countless lives, both the individuals we serve and all of us who have had the privilege of volunteering alongside her in her role as Food Pantry Coordinator.
The photos from our recent celebration capture just a small glimpse of the appreciation and love we feel for Ginny and all of our incredible food pantry volunteers. We are truly blessed by each and every one of you who shows up with willing hands and caring hearts.
Ginny, thank you for the difference you have made. Thank you for your years of service, your laughter, your encouragement, and the warmth you brought into every day. You will be deeply missed, but your impact will live on in this community for years to come.

Happy National Donut Day!

National Donut Day is coming on Friday, June 5! The Salvation Army started this tasty observance almost 90 years ago to commemorate the work of “Donut Lassies”—female Salvation Army volunteers who served American soldiers battling on the frontlines of World War I. Today, we celebrate National Donut Day to recognize first responders and veterans for their service to our country and local communities. The Salvation Army Honesdale Service Extension is looking for dedicated volunteers to join our Emergency Disaster Response Team.
In light of recent events here in Wayne County, it has become clearer than ever how vital it is to be prepared and ready to serve our neighbors in times of crisis. When emergencies happen, every minute matters—and so does every helping hand.
By volunteering, you can make a real difference by assisting with:

Emergency food and hydration distribution
Community support during disasters
Local response efforts when help is needed most
