The Honesdale Fire Department continues to celebrate our members. Texas #4 Fire Company recently had three members graduate.
Lieutenant Daniel Becker graduated Cum Laude from Marywood University with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. At Marywood, Dan was a two-year baseball team captain, president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and a Member of the Marywood Student Education Club.
Dan plans on continuing his education, seeking a master's degree and doctorate in Educational Leadership and Principal certification. Dan is a 7th Grade Learning Support teacher at Wayne Highlands Middle School.
Firefighter Kyler Gunuskey earned his bachelor’s degree in Special Education and Early Childhood Education from Bloomsburg University. During his time at Bloomsburg, Kyler was a four-year member of the Best Buddies Club, where he served as a peer buddy to adults with disabilities. Kyler was also an active member of the Strength and Fitness Club for four years, and served as social media coordinator, managing the club's social media accounts.
Kyler plans on continuing his education while advancing his career as a teacher. Kyler recently accepted a position as a middle school emotional support teacher at Delaware Valley School District.
President Keith Gunuskey earned his Doctorate in Leadership Studies with a concentration in Emergency Management and Disaster Preparedness from Louisiana State University (LSU)-Shreveport. Dr. Gunuskey is the Superintendent of Wallenpaupack Area School District and has been an educator at WASD for 27 years. Dr. Gunuskey is also a board member of several boards, including Wayne Memorial Health Systems, Wayne County YMCA, and the Wayne County Family Center.
