Recently, our esteemed President, Peter Sloan, along with co-pilot Thad Hunkins had the opportunity to work with Veterans Airlift Command and complete our 43rd mission. It was our honor to help transport an amazing and inspiring Marine to SC, where he will be recovering from surgery.
In 2006, USMC Lt. Andrew K. was deployed to Iraq as an Infantry Platoon Commander. While on a foot patrol with seven of his Marines, he stepped on an IED and detonated it. The blast damage was so severe that it not only threw all seven Marines to the ground, but it left Andrew suffering massive life-changing injuries from his abdomen down. The damage resulted in losing both of his legs at the hip. He spent over a month in a coma and has since endured, fought through, and healed from hundreds of surgeries.
Andrew became a beacon of inspiration, embodying resilience, courage, and unwavering determination. Despite facing adversity, he refused to let his injuries define him. While awaiting medical retirement from the Marine Corps, the Lt. interned in the Office of Legislative Counsel at the Pentagon. He served as a military fellow in the office of a US Senator. Since his retirement, he has served on the board of directors with the Wounded Warrior Project. He attended Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School, completing a joint degree, and has since obtained his pilot's license.
Thank you for your Service, we wish you a speed recovery!
