The College for Cowboys Chuck Wagon Round Up welcomes chuck wagon cooking teams from across Texas competing for cash
prizes in multiple categories. The professional wagon crews, sponsored by local businesses, will prepare delicious cowboy-sized portions of country fried steak, beans, potatoes, bread, and peach cobbler right before your very eyes, using authentic cast-iron skillets and dutch ovens. Just east of Hondo on Hwy. 90, the South Texas MAiZE offers a full day of family-friendly activities including the popular Hopping Corn Popper, hayrides, cow train, Corn Cannons, the new slide mountain attraction, “The Mattercorn,” and, of course, the opportunity to get lost in the MAiZE. A special combination Chuck Wagon Meal & South Texas MAiZE ticket is available for $20 online only at http://www.collegeforcowboys.org. The combo ticket will not be available at the gate, so please pre-buy online. Gates are open from 10:00 a.m. and Chuck Wagon Meals will be served from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. This unique event is sponsored by the College For Cowboys Scholarship Foundation, an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that exists to provide scholarships to all D’Hanis High School graduates seeking higher education. So, plan to ‘cowboy up’ and come on out to the South Texas MAiZE in ‘God’s Country’ for a day filled with fall family fun and delicious chuck wagon food in a friendly atmosphere that you can’t beat, even with a genuine cast iron skillet!
