Meet Gidget, Cricket, and Trixie! 🐾

These precious little Shih Tzus were owner-surrendered because their family was experiencing serious medical issues and could no longer provide the care they needed. They were deeply loved, and we are grateful their family trusted Tracy’s Paws to care for them.

Our groomer is going to be very busy on Sunday! These three little girls desperately need grooming, along with a long list of others waiting for their spa day. $5 Friday helps us with expenses like this and the dogs love the pampering!

Gidget, Cricket, and Trixie will be cleaned up, settled in, and feeling better soon enough. They are truly the sweetest little souls. ❤️

All three will be available for adoption on our upcoming transport to Geneva, Illinois, on October 17th!

I wanted to give everyone an update on Justin. I picked him up from his eye-removal surgery today, and he seems to be doing great.

One of the most heartbreaking things about this little dog is that he never wants his people out of sight. Justin was found in an apartment with approximately 30 other dogs after they had all been abandoned. Despite everything he has endured, he is one of the nicest, sweetest dogs you could ever hope to meet.

We did not realize that his eye was blind until it began protruding, and I believe the loss of his vision heightened his anxiety. Whenever he couldn’t see us or thought he had been left alone, he would howl. When I picked him up today, the veterinarian told me the same thing…“Tracy, he howls whenever he can’t see you or feels like he is alone.”

Justin doesn’t ask for much. He simply wants to sit in someone’s lap, stay close to his person, and know that he is finally safe and loved. His ideal home would be with someone who is retired or home most of the time and truly wants a devoted little companion beside them.

He is such a special boy…and after being abandoned once, he deserves to know that he will never be left alone again.

Jolene is under a year old, weighs just 26 pounds, and is such a sweet, gentle soul. She is the little dog who was found in deep South Texas with her muzzle taped shut. She originally went to Donja’s Dogs, and we took over her care from there.

Well, Huckleberry went in for grooming this morning, and I should mention that, to date, Miss Eve is the only groomer who has been able to groom him without getting attacked.

Unfortunately, she is more than an hour away, and I have tried other groomers because of the distance…but no luck. Huckleberry has been fired by every groomer except Miss Eve.

So I will happily continue making the long drive because the next option would be sedation grooming, and I really do not want to go there. Today, he is getting beautified by someone who loves him just as much as I do. Miss Eve likes naughty dogs and has a special knack for them…just like I do.

Some days, you just shake your head in disbelief at how far someone will go to scam others.

Today, we received what appeared to be a very real $4,000 check in a Priority Mail envelope. A man using the name David Buchanan had emailed us several times and seemed very excited for us to receive a generous donation from him and his wife.

The check is fraudulent.

Here is how the scam works: They send a counterfeit check and then contact you, claiming they accidentally sent more than they intended. They ask you to deposit it and mail back a check for the difference. Eventually, the original check is discovered to be fraudulent, but the money you sent them is very real—and it is gone.

Apparently, this is an ongoing scam using the same name and company information, and nonprofits across the country are being targeted. If you know anyone who operates a nonprofit, please warn them.

What a loser. Just imagine if people like this used their time, effort, and creativity to do something good in the world instead of trying to steal from organizations that are working to help others.

I wanted to give you all an update on sweet Tilly.

Tilly came to Tracy’s Paws with what initially appeared to be a neck injury. We had X-rays taken, and she was sent home with medication and instructions to return for a recheck in two to three weeks. But Tilly never seemed quite right. Her appetite wasn’t good, and she simply wasn’t improving.

When she returned to the vet, they spayed her—and discovered that this poor girl had deceased puppies inside her. I am incredibly grateful that we caught it before she became even more seriously ill. On top of everything else, Tilly is also battling Chagas disease.

While she was under anesthesia, the vet performed a much-needed dental, and she lost quite a few teeth. She is an older girl who has clearly endured far more than she ever should have.

I found Tilly at the La Joya shelter, huddled alone in a corner. She looked completely defeated. The thought of her wandering around while suffering in so much pain is almost unbearable.

But tonight, I held her and snuggled with her, and I swear she is the sweetest little soul. She is finally on the mend and beginning to feel better.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for all of you. Your continued support and generous donations allow us to help dogs like Tilly—not only by saving their lives, but by easing their pain and giving them the comfort, medical care, and love they have always deserved.

From both Tilly and me, thank you. Truly. ❤️

Well, Speck is officially on his way back to Colorado with his new mom! He acted as if he had known her forever. He loves being held, and she said he is exactly what she has been looking for.

I am so incredibly excited for him. This precious little dog came from deep South Texas and is one of Lassie’s babies. Now, he has received the upgrade of a lifetime and will be living his very best life in beautiful Colorado…far, far away from Texas. ❤️
