For those of you who enjoyed watching that beautiful Gotcha Day surprise, when the kids thought they were coming for a class but were actually meeting their new family member … just look at little Mila now! ❤️🐾

Look at her running and playing with those kids, having the time of her life! This video literally brought tears to my eyes.

If you knew where Mila came from, you would understand why this means so much to me. She was once unwanted in deep South Texas … and now look at her. Loved, cherished, and living the life every dog deserves.

From unwanted to someone’s whole world. ❤️

I could watch this all day. This is why we do what we do. 🐾💕

My heart is so full of gratitude for every single person who helps make these special days possible.

To everyone who gives their time, opens their hearts, works tirelessly behind the scenes, and puts so much love and care into making sure each dog finds the family they were meant to have…thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I know how much love, dedication, and emotion goes into every adoption. None of this happens by chance, and none of it happens without the incredible people who believe in these dogs as much as we do.

To everyone who continues to support our mission, trusts in what we do, and stands beside us, please know how deeply appreciated you are. Your kindness and belief in our work mean more than words can ever express.

Seeing these dogs begin their new lives with families who will love and cherish them is why we do what we do.

I received the sweetest update on Justin and Reese, two of our longtime residents at Tracy’s Paws Rescue. ❤️

No, they aren’t the flashy, scruffy, fluffy types that so many people are drawn to, but they are beautiful souls nonetheless.

What makes this family so incredibly special is that they trusted me to choose two dogs who needed them the most. ❤️

I’ve always wished people could see the beauty that I see in these dogs every single day. Sometimes the ones who are overlooked the most are the most beautiful souls of all.

And Justin…oh, Justin. My heart just explodes looking at these pictures. 🥹

Do you know that all this little dog ever wanted was to have his own people? When he lived at Oliver’s House, he would howl whenever he was crated. He absolutely hated being confined. Eventually, we moved him back to the Milton and paired him with another dog, which seemed to help. But what Justin really wanted was something we couldn’t give him every day…someone’s lap to curl up in and someone to love him.

And now look at him! He has his very own people, a lap to snuggle in, and he even gets to sleep in bed with them. Everything that little boy ever wanted. ❤️

And then there’s Reese…our sweet old soul. He came from one of the worst shelters in deep South Texas. He’s not the flashy, scruffy type that catches everyone’s attention, and the sad reality is that he likely would never have made it out of that shelter.

But at Tracy’s Paws, we love them ALL. Big, small, fluffy, plain, old, young…it doesn’t matter. Every single one of them deserves to be loved, and I only wish we could save more.

Seeing these two boys living in a real home, surrounded by love, warms my heart in ways I can’t even describe.

To this wonderful family…thank you for trusting me, trusting our mission, and opening your hearts to two dogs who needed you more than you could ever know.

You didn’t ask for the prettiest dogs or the most popular dogs. You simply asked me to choose the ones who needed a home the most.

And that, to me, is one of the most beautiful acts of kindness there is.

Thank you for seeing what I see. ❤️🐾

Sneak peak of the outside of the Milton. There are also pools in the yards, panels outside of each kennel to minimize stress barking and fans to make sure it stays cool. Each run has a designated brush for cleaning. Runs and yards are cleaned each day.

Hi everyone! I have an update on our sweet Delta, but please don’t be upset.

Unfortunately, Delta had an incident with her new adopter’s dog yesterday, and it was unprovoked.

After all my years in rescue, I’ve seen plenty of squabbles between dogs, and I know that 99% of them work themselves out. This was not that type of squabble. I was not comfortable sending Delta home and expecting her adopter to manage a situation that could potentially escalate and put either dog at risk. It simply would not have been fair to the adopter or the dogs.

Delta has been increasingly testy with other dogs at the rescue, which is why we paired her with Mack. The two do beautifully together, and we have not attempted to introduce her to any additional dogs since.

Yesterday, Delta was absolutely wonderful with all the people who approached her at the event. She loves people! However, it became clear that she is not welcoming of unfamiliar dogs.

Moving forward, Delta will only be marketed as an only dog or as part of a dynamic duo with her buddy Mack.

Delta is now on her way back to the rescue with Oscar. They even enjoyed an overnight stay at a hotel, where Delta got to sleep in a real bed! Oscar says she is a wonderful traveler.

We feel terrible about what happened to her adopter and her dog. We certainly didn’t anticipate this behavior, but every adoption teaches us something new about the dogs in our care.

I’m grateful this happened while we were still at the event and could safely bring Delta home rather than having her placed in a situation that wasn’t right for her.

Delta is still a wonderful dog who deserves a loving home … we just have a better understanding now of what that home needs to look like. ❤️

Tracy’s Paws Rescue has the BEST board of directors and transport team EVER! ❤️🐾

We are small but mighty! And after 16 years, we’re still at it … changing lives, one dog at a time! ❤️

We’re missing a few of our crew, but the majority of us are here in Geneva, Illinois, helping with our last potty break before the BIG event!

Today, 24 dogs will meet their new families for the very first time! 🐶❤️🏡
