~🎉Trivia Tuesday Answer!🎉~

The mystery bird is the Little Blue Heron! 🐦💙

This beautiful native wading bird can be found throughout Florida’s marshes, mangroves, wetlands, and coastal shorelines. Using its long, sharp bill, it patiently stalks and spears fish, frogs, insects, and other aquatic prey.

Fun Fact: Juvenile Little Blue Herons are mostly white, which often causes them to be mistaken for egrets!

~🐦‍⬛Behind the scenes🐦‍⬛~

We've been receiving quite a few crows lately from veterinary clinics, cat and dog encounters, and various injury-related situations. Thankfully, every crow currently in our care is doing well and progressing through rehabilitation.

Crows are among the most intelligent birds in the world. They can recognize human faces, solve complex problems, use tools, and even remember individuals who have helped—or harmed—them. These highly social birds live in close family groups and often work together to protect and care for one another.

Unfortunately, crows frequently come into rehabilitation due to vehicle strikes, encounters with domestic pets, window collisions, and other injuries. If you find an injured crow, it's important to keep it safe, quiet, and away from pets while contacting a licensed wildlife rehabilitator as soon as possible.

We're grateful to the veterinarians, concerned citizens, and rescue partners who help get these remarkable birds the care they need. We look forward to seeing these intelligent and resilient patients return to the wild where they belong.

~🌟Spotlight Saturday: Brooke🌟~

This Saturday, we want to shine the spotlight on an amazing volunteer, Brooke!

Brooke dedicates her time three days each week helping prepare nutritious meals for the animals in our care. Her hard work behind the scenes helps ensure that every animal at Nature World Wildlife Sanctuary receives the proper nutrition they need to thrive.

Brooke began volunteering with us to gain hands-on animal care experience as she pursues her dream of becoming a Ranch Hand at the Giraffe Ranch in Dade City, Florida. Her passion for wildlife, dedication to learning, and willingness to jump in wherever help is needed have made her an invaluable part of our team.

We are incredibly grateful for Brooke’s commitment, positive attitude, and compassion for the animals. Volunteers like Brooke make our mission possible, and we truly can’t thank her enough for everything she does.

❤️ Thank you, Brooke, for helping us make a difference in the lives of Florida’s wildlife every week!

~🐦🌿Fun Fact Friday: Florida Scrub-Jay Edition!🌿🐦~

Did you know the Florida Scrub-Jay is the only bird species found exclusively in Florida? These striking blue birds are known for their intelligence, strong family bonds, and remarkable memory skills.

Florida Scrub-Jays work together to raise their young, defend their territory, and even hide acorns for future snacks. In fact, they can remember hundreds of hiding spots throughout their habitat!

Because they rely on Florida’s unique scrub ecosystems, protecting these habitats helps ensure the future of this incredible species.

💙 Next time you’re exploring Florida’s natural areas, keep an eye out for these curious feathered neighbors!

~🦅Behind the Scenes🦅~

This beautiful Mississippi Kite came to us from The Ark Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, and we’re thrilled to report that it is doing fantastic! Thanks to the care it has received, this amazing bird is recovering well and should be ready for release back into the wild very soon.

Mississippi Kites are elegant birds of prey known for their graceful flight and incredible aerial hunting abilities. These sleek raptors spend much of their time soaring through the sky, catching insects like dragonflies, cicadas, and grasshoppers on the wing. Every year, they migrate thousands of miles between North and South America, making them one of nature’s most impressive travelers.

We’re honored to play a small role in this kite’s journey and look forward to seeing it return to the skies where it belongs! ❤️
