Nature Coast Therapy Dogs

One of our tasks for training Nature Coast Therapy Dogs is assuring the dogs are comfortable around ambulatory assistance walkers, wheelchairs etc. This is Lacey, who seems very comfortable around this walker. Of course, because Lacey LOVES to be around people. Please share this with an organization who might use our services or with someone who might be interested in putting their dog to work.

It’s official…we have a training location. Thank you to Rosecastle of Citrus, Retirement and Assisted Living Facility for offering their fenced in yard for training our therapy dogs. We had our first class yesterday. This is our Organizer and Trainer, Joanne Peters, testing the dogs for their reaction to a wheelchair. (They didn’t care. Totally unfazed and that is what we want)

This is Wolf during a nursing home visit. Our Therapy Dogs are trained to be comfortable around other dogs when doing their visits. Would you please share this with an organization that might welcome our dogs? We would love that! Message us.

This is Wolf with Colonel Sanders who jumped behind enemy lines on D-Day, WWII. Wolf was a favorite of the Colonel’s and they visited often. Our dogs offer so much comfort and joy. Please message us if you know of an organization who would love our service.

Do you know of someone or a business with unused space inside or outside that is not being put to GOOD use? We have a GOOD use for it. NCTD is searching for just such space. This could be a tax deduction for contributing to a non-profit as well as a potential draw to the business. Put those thinking caps on and message us please. We are ready to serve but need some space as well.

This is Lacey. Doesn’t she look cuddle worthy in front of a fireplace…or any place for that matter? The holidays can be emotionally challenging times for some. Please message or call us if you know a school, facility or organization that our dogs can provide comfort and consolation to, especially going into the holidays.

Welcome! We are an all volunteer therapy dog organization ready to help where needed. Volunteers are trained, insured and undergo Level II background checks.
Our mission is to bring some consolation and smiles to those who are in nursing homes, hospitals, daycare centers, and school campuses while also educating about dogs in general. Our Grief Support Canines attend wakes, viewings and funerals. We are dedicated to educating the public about safe and responsible handling of dogs and showing how dogs enrich our lives on a daily basis. You will find our volunteers helping to make children safe around dogs – helping them learn how to safely approach a dog, learn how to read dog body language, and aiding their moms and dads in selecting the right dog for their family. This can be accomplished with programs designed specifically for pre-school, elementary and high school as well as Boys and Girls Clubs.
