The Chicago Far-South Suburban Branch received its charter from the NAACP on May 17, 1979. Since its inception, this branch has focused on the betterment of its people in numerous areas, including economics, housing, education and government.

The NAACP Chicago Far South Suburban Branch (NAACP-CFSSB) will host its Annual Freedom Fund & Scholarship Gala on Saturday, November 14th, 2015 at Glenwood Oaks Rib & Chop House located at 106 N Main St, Glenwood, IL 60425. This event is our most important fund raiser of the year and proceeds will be used to allow us to continue to advocate for civil rights equality in our community and provide scholarships to our youth. Since our inception, in May of 1979, the NAACP-CFSSB has remained vigilant in its mission to ensure racial, educational, social, economic and civil justice for all Americans. We proudly represent equality and diversity in over 70 communities from Bedford Park to Peotone. Our theme for 2015: “Back to Basics” describes our resolve to get back to the mission of the NAACP of ensuring Civil Rights in the following key areas:


1. Political Action
2. Educational Equality
3. Criminal Justice
4. Health and Human Services
5. Economic Opportunity
