Mother’s Day weekend has our fosters busy being mommas once again to two new critical rescue cases.
The first is little RAISIN, a scruffy terrier mix who was abandoned along with several other dogs after being thrown from a truck. Sweet Raisin is dragging his back legs, and honestly, it’s heartbreaking to see. We have no idea how long he’s been this way or what happened to him before someone finally helped him.
Thanks to our friends at Cape Coral Animal Shelter, we were able to get him a donated wheelchair, and seeing him get around in it brought all of us to tears. But now we need to find out what’s actually wrong. He needs x-rays and possibly an MRI, and those costs add up quickly.
Then there’s baby Alexander. This tiny kitten was found after being hit by a car near Station 66. When Officer Edgar from Homestead Animal Services reached out asking for help, we said yes.
X-rays at Dr. Tucci’s office showed a broken back leg and a fractured pelvis. Right now we are watching him closely through the weekend and figuring out the best medical plan for Monday. Most likely, his leg will need to be amputated.
But this little guy is fighting so hard. He’s eating. He’s trying to use the bathroom on his own, even though it’s messy and painful. He wants to live.
We know times are hard for everyone, but rescue never stops needing help. Cases like these are why we do what we do, even when it feels overwhelming.
If you can donate toward Raisin and Alexander’s care, we would be so grateful. And if you can’t donate, please share. That helps more than people realize. ❤️ Happy Mother’s Day! 🌻
