Our Kiwanis Club of Homestead-South Dade meeting was filled with inspiration, service, and community pride.

We were honored to welcome Chief Mario Knapp and members of the Homestead Police Department as our guest speakers. Chief Knapp shared an informative update on the department’s continued progress, including technology enhancements, community engagement efforts, safe driving initiatives, and the dedicated work being done each day to keep Homestead safe. We are grateful for the commitment and professionalism of the men and women who serve and protect our community.

We were also delighted to recognize one of our 2026 Kiwanis Scholarship recipients, Samantha, who joined us today with her mother to receive her scholarship award before beginning her next chapter at Florida State University. In addition to her academic achievements, Sofia has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service and looks forward to continuing that tradition throughout her college years. We wish her continued success as she pursues her goals and represents the very best of our community.

The Kiwanis Scholarship Luncheon celebrated some of our community’s best! Congratulations to each of our scholarship recipients for their outstanding achievements in academics, leadership, and service to others. Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to making a difference have not gone unnoticed.

We also recognize the parents, families, teachers, and mentors who have supported these students every step of the way. Success is rarely achieved alone, and today we celebrate the village that helped shape these remarkable young people.

Thank you to the Kiwanis Club members, our dedicated scholarship committee, and the many sponsors and supporters who participate in our fundraising efforts throughout the year. Your generosity creates opportunities that help students pursue their dreams.

A special thank you to our presenting sponsor, FPL, whose support allowed us to increase our scholarship awards to $10,000 this year—an investment that will have a lasting impact on the future leaders of our community.

Congratulations to all of our recipients. We are proud of you and excited to see what you accomplish next.

Today we celebrated more than 25 students from Laura C Saunders and Waterstone Elementary with an ice cream party after earning the BUG Awards throughout each grading period and raising two or more grades in math, science, history, or language! 🍦

We’re so proud of these students for their hard work, dedication, and growth. A special thank you to and City for sponsoring the ice cream and helping make today extra special for our kids!

Throwback to our 51st Annual Community Good Friday Prayer Breakfast—more than an event, it was a moment of connection, reflection, and unity.

In the middle of busy schedules, we paused together—leaders, families, and friends—to slow down, share space, and be reminded of what truly matters. There’s something powerful about a community showing up for each other with intention.

Grateful to be part of what Kiwanis Club of Homestead/South Dade continues to build—bringing people together and creating moments that strengthen our city.
