Homer American Legion Auxiliary The Homer ALA is all about doing for the Veterans, active military, the children and our community. We have fund raisers to keep our missions going.

Some of the things we do include the following: send several of the Heritage Jr. girls to Girls State, we offer a scholarship to a graduating senior, we donate to the grade school library and the Homer library. We assist in disaster relief (the tornado in Gifford) We have helped a family in crisis by purchasing milk for 2 school aged children for the school year. The money we receive from the poppy distribution is spend ONLY on our veterans. We purchase clothing, toiletries, snacks, art and craft supplies and this year we are sponsoring several veterans in a color burst run. We send coupons to some of the US bases over-seas. (total to date for last 2 years is $36,353.42) We volunteer at the Danville VA and assist therapist with bingo parties, help with the Christmas dinner for the homeless veterans, we wrapped about 700 pr of socks, hats and gloves and made about 500 Christmas bags to be distributed to the in-patients, homeless veterans and veterans in other programs. The list is non-stop. AND WE ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

Don’t forget, Homer American Legion Smorgasbord will be Monday, 25th, generally start serving around 1130. Ham, chicken & noodles, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, cold salads, rolls and desserts. The service at GAR is 11 (?)

We’re a little behind this year, but, MARK YOUR CALENDARS for Monday, May 25th, for the ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY SMORGASBORD. Ham, chicken & noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, broccoli cauliflower salad, pineapple fluff, a few other items and desserts. Free will offering, so come out, get your lunch, take it home or sit with your family or neighbors.

Tomorrow (Sat, 28th) 10-1130 at the Homer City Building is the Auxiliary Easter Fun Day. Toddler to 4th grade. We have coloring pages, crafts, eggs for decorating and snacks to take home.

The Easter Fun Day has been rescheduled for Sat. 28th, 10-11:30 (only the time was changed) at the Homer Village Hall. We have lots of crafts and decorating for the kidos and goodies to take home. Ages toddler to 4th grade. (Older siblings are welcome (they just might get bored)😊. Hope you can make it.
