Pet Profile Rescue Pet Profile Rescue & Schnauzer Rescue Connection is a compassionate, Chicago-area rescue dedicated to giving dogs a second chance.

We operate without a physical shelter. Visit petprofilerescue.org to learn more. Pet Profile Rescue (PPR), now doing business as Schnauzer Rescue Connection, is a 501(c)3 non-profit that rescues senior animals, animals with special needs, and younger pets too. We focus on dogs—especially schnauzers—but also help cats, rabbits, and chinchillas. We provide medical care, foster placements, and find loving forever homes for every animal. PPR also supports animal advocacy through fundraising and conservation efforts. As a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, all donations are fully tax deductible. Thank you for helping us save lives!

🥹❤️ LORI’S OUT SHOPPING… BUT WHAT SHE REALLY NEEDS IS A MIRACLE. 🐾

Today at our meet and greet at Pet Supplies Plus in Homer Glen, Lori was checking out all the snacks and food like she was on a little shopping trip! ❤️ We love seeing her enjoy these moments, because this girl has been through so much.

Lori was found as a stray in Chicago with a very large, ulcerated mass that we suspect is a mammary tumor. 💔 Her initial bloodwork was concerning, and she wasn’t healthy enough to move forward with surgery.

We repeated her bloodwork yesterday, and there was some improvement! 🙏 That’s encouraging news, but her numbers still aren’t good enough for surgery. We need to keep working on getting her stronger and hope her condition continues to improve.

We don’t yet know what Lori’s ultimate outcome will be, and we’re trying to take things one step at a time. For now, we’re grateful for every good moment—including getting out to explore, sniff the treats, and enjoy a little attention at today’s event. 🥹❤️

Lori deserves so much more than what life has handed her. We’re doing everything we can to give her a chance, and we’ll keep you updated as we learn more.

🥹❤️ MEET MUPPET! A TINY LITTLE SENIOR WHO NEEDS SOMEONE TO LOVE HER! ❤️🐾

At 14 years old, this tiny Shih Tzu should be enjoying her golden years in a cozy home, surrounded by love. Instead, Muppet ended up at a shelter because her owner was moving. 💔

Through no fault of her own, this little girl suddenly found herself without a family.

Now Muppet needs a soft place to land. Could you be the person who gives her that chance? ❤️

👑 Princess here, still on the hunt for my furever castle. I am 7 years old, 12 lbs, with the bestest and most cutest ears! I’m house trained and promise to be the goodest girl when home alone. I’m a lil shy at first, so here is a bit more about my amazing self!

Big fan of:

🥹❤️ SHE CAME TO WAKE HER FOSTER MOM UP! THIS IS HUGE FOR VALERIE! ❤️

“Mooooom, it’s time for breakfast!” 🐾🍳

Valerie reached a BIG milestone this morning! For the first time, she came up to her foster mom on her own to wake her up! 🥹❤️

She’s been slowly working her way toward approaching her people on her own, but this was by far the most comfortable and confident she’s ever been. For a dog who once wanted nothing to do with people, this is a moment worth celebrating!

Let’s tell you a little about Valerie’s journey. 💕

Valerie is a 7-year-old Miniature Schnauzer and a former puppy mill breeding dog. When she came into rescue, she was absolutely terrified of people. She would run and hide, and she wouldn’t even eat if someone was nearby. She also needed immediate surgery for a large, infected hernia.

Thankfully, her physical recovery went well, and now she’s working on something that takes much more time: learning that people can be trusted. ❤️

Little by little, Valerie has started letting her foster mom pick her up and cuddle her. She’s discovered the comfort of a favorite couch spot, enjoys exploring the yard with her foster dog friends, and has even started discovering the joy of toys!

But this morning? This was different. Valerie made the first move. She chose to approach her foster mom because she wanted something—and felt comfortable enough to ask for it. That’s a HUGE step for a little dog who has spent so much of her life being afraid. 🥹

Valerie is still a work in progress. She needs a patient, understanding home that will let her build trust at her own pace. A securely fenced yard is a must because she can be a flight risk when frightened. She may do best in an adult home with women, and having another friendly dog can help her feel safe.

We know Valerie won’t be the right dog for everyone. She needs someone who understands that love doesn’t always happen overnight. Sometimes it looks like a little girl hiding in the corner. Sometimes it looks like finally accepting a cuddle. And sometimes, it looks like coming to wake her foster mom up because BREAKFAST CAN’T WAIT! 😂❤️

We are SO proud of you, Valerie! Every little step forward is bringing you closer to the forever home you deserve.

❤️ WHEN WINSTON EATS, IT’S ALWAYS A WIN! ❤️🐾

Winston’s story could have ended at a shelter in Las Vegas, where he was scheduled to be euthanized. 💔 But he got a second chance, and we’re so grateful he did!

Winston has some significant medical challenges, including megaesophagus, which means mealtime requires a little extra care. But this boy has his own routine, and we’re here to help him every step of the way. ❤️

🍽️ Winston eats his meal at the kitchen table, and afterward, he spends 30 minutes sitting upright in his Bailey chair to help reduce the risk of food coming back up and being aspirated.

It may not be a typical mealtime, but when you’re caring for a special-needs dog, you learn that the little things are actually BIG things.

And when Winston eats? THAT’S ALWAYS A WIN! 🥹❤️

We can’t change what almost happened to Winston in Las Vegas, but we can make sure he gets the love, patience, and specialized care he needs now. He deserves every chance to enjoy life.

💨🐾 LILY IS BACK IN ACTION… RUNNING AS FAST AS THE WIND! ❤️

Remember when little Lily came to us with a broken foot? Well, look at her NOW! 😍

This girl is fully recovered and ready to run straight into someone’s heart! 💕 As you can see in the video, Lily is making up for lost time and running as fast as the wind. Nothing is holding this little firecracker back!

Lily was rescued from a shelter in Las Vegas, and now she’s ready for her next chapter: finding a loving forever home of her own. 🏡❤️

🐾 She’s just 2 years old and about 13 pounds.
🐾 She’s sweet, spunky, and full of personality.
🐾 She’s housebroken, spayed, and up to date on her vaccinations.
🐾 She would do best in a home without men and with no cats. She may be happy as an only dog or with a calm, submissive canine companion.

Lily has overcome her injury, and now all that’s missing is HER PERSON. Could you be the one to give this little girl the happy ending she deserves?
