💔🐾 We have a concerning update on sweet Si.

Recently, we noticed a mass above Si's hock, near one of the tendons in his leg. As you can imagine, we were very worried and immediately scheduled veterinary care to find out what was going on.

Si underwent blood work, x-rays, and an aspiration of the mass. While we are still waiting for the aspiration results, the current recommendation is that the mass will likely need to be surgically removed. Because of its location involving the tendon, the procedure may require tendon resection and grafting.

We are now exploring surgical options and waiting for additional information before making the next decision for this special boy.

What makes this especially heartbreaking is that Si and his best friend, Pepper, recently had a potential adopter interested in giving them a home together. As a bonded pair of 13-year-old best friends, that was the dream we had hoped for them. Unfortunately, this new medical issue has put everything on hold for now.

Despite all of this, Si remains his sweet self, and Pepper is right by his side as always. 💕

Please keep Si in your thoughts as we await the aspiration results and determine the best path forward. We are hoping for answers, a successful treatment plan, and ultimately a happy future for both of these deserving seniors.

We'll share more information as soon as we know more.

💛 Si and Pepper appreciate all of your love and support.

Emmy has taken over our socials and has an important announcement she needs to share:

💬 Hi! My name is Emmy but my foster mom calls me lovebug ! I sure do love to snuggle up close to my people. If you call me over, I’m there! You want to kiss my head or give me hugs?? I’d love that. If I trust you, I’ll give you my belly for scratches too.

🎺 I don’t want to toot my own horn, but I’m a pretty great companion. I like to go for walks, and will go as slow as you want. I also like to go for car rides and learned about a thing called “errands”- being part of things is fun but boy was I tired after! If you’re tuckered too, we can binge watch Netflix together!

⚡ I don’t mind my foster fur-sister, but really like to be with the humans, and don’t like when they leave. Lucky for me, Pet Profile Rescue and my foster parents learned a thunder-shirt really calms me! So now I’ll be okay if you absolutely must go somewhere without me.

🐶 My fosters say that I raised my babies and now deserve to be the center of someone’s world. Is that someone you?

💔🐾 Luna Mae update

Just when we thought sweet Luna was on the road to recovery after her liver shunt surgery, she gave us a scare today.

Her foster noticed that Luna's belly appeared swollen and that there was discharge coming from her incision site. Not wanting to take any chances, Luna was rushed to the emergency veterinarian for evaluation.

Thankfully, the news was better than we feared. 💛

The veterinary team examined Luna, flushed the area, and started her on antibiotics. They also collected a sample for culture so they can determine exactly what they're dealing with and ensure she receives the most appropriate treatment.

While we're relieved that it doesn't appear to be a more serious complication, Luna still has a recovery journey ahead of her and will need close monitoring over the coming days.

This brave little girl has already been through so much—from extensive diagnostics to major liver shunt surgery—and she's continuing to fight through it all with incredible resilience. 🥹

Please keep Luna in your thoughts as we await the culture results and continue helping her heal.

If you would like to help with Luna's ongoing medical expenses, including today's unexpected emergency visit, we would be incredibly grateful.

💰 Ways to help Luna and her friends:

Thank you for continuing to support Luna and dogs like her. Your kindness makes these second chances possible. 💕

🪥🐾 Cisco has a question...

Today, Cisco let his foster mom trim his face and brush his teeth like a very good boy 💙

No fuss. No drama. Just a handsome boy sitting patiently while getting pampered.

And now Cisco would like to know...

🤔 "Why does nobody want to adopt me?"

Honestly, we don't know either.

Cisco is a handsome blue merle schnauzer mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He forms strong bonds with his people, loves to play, and is happiest when he's part of the action.

He's smart, loyal, affectionate, and always ready for an adventure. Yes, Cisco has energy and would thrive with an active family committed to continuing his training and helping him be the best version of himself. But underneath all that enthusiasm is a dog who simply wants a family to call his own 🥹

Sometimes the dogs who wait the longest are the ones who touch our hearts the deepest.

Cisco has been patient. He has been learning. He has been trying his very best.

Now he just needs someone to say "yes."

🏡 Cisco is available for adoption in the Chicago area.

If you're looking for a fun, loyal companion and have room in your heart for a dog who will love you with everything he's got, Cisco may be your guy.

🚪🐾 "Wait... are we going somewhere?!" 😍

If excitement had a face, it would be Harley's!

In this video, Harley is practically bouncing off the ground because he thinks he's about to go on an adventure. Whether it's a walk, a car ride, or just heading out the door, this happy little guy is ALL IN 😂💕

Harley is about 6 years old, weighs 15 lbs, and has plenty of enthusiasm left for life's adventures. He's a fun, spirited boy who is ready to leave his past behind and find a family of his very own.

Honestly, watching him jump around in excitement is guaranteed to make you smile 🥹

🏡 Harley will be available for adoption soon in the Chicago area!

If you think Harley might be your perfect match, now is the time to get your application in. We expect this adorable little guy to get plenty of interest once he's officially available.

💜🐾 An Ode to MagPie Maggie

This past February, a tiny 15½-year-old dog arrived at Chicago Animal Care & Control in heartbreaking condition.

She was underweight. She was severely matted. Mats were stuck to her eyelids. No medical history was provided. No personal information was left behind. Just a fragile senior dog who deserved so much better.

And perhaps the saddest part was that MagPie didn't understand.

She lived with neurological challenges that made navigating the world difficult. She was differently abled. She stumbled, she fell, and she faced obstacles every day. Yet through it all, she kept going.

When MagPie needed help, Pet Profile Rescue said yes.

Because every dog deserves kindness. Every dog deserves dignity. Every dog deserves to know they matter.

MagPie received medical care, grooming, nail trims, warm meals, soft beds, and love—so much love. She found safety. She found comfort. She found people who saw her worth.

Most importantly, she found a foster who adored her.

MagPie, you amazed us every day with your determination and your will to live. You taught us that joy can be found in the smallest victories, that resilience comes in many forms, and that every life has value.

You were cherished. You were celebrated. You were loved.

MagPie Maggie, your life mattered. It was an honor to care for you and show you the kindness every dog deserves.

Thank you, Patti, for opening your heart and home to this special girl. And thank you for loving her exactly as she was.

Run free, sweet MagPie. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. 💜🌈🐾
