💔🐾 We have a concerning update on sweet Si.
Recently, we noticed a mass above Si's hock, near one of the tendons in his leg. As you can imagine, we were very worried and immediately scheduled veterinary care to find out what was going on.
Si underwent blood work, x-rays, and an aspiration of the mass. While we are still waiting for the aspiration results, the current recommendation is that the mass will likely need to be surgically removed. Because of its location involving the tendon, the procedure may require tendon resection and grafting.
We are now exploring surgical options and waiting for additional information before making the next decision for this special boy.
What makes this especially heartbreaking is that Si and his best friend, Pepper, recently had a potential adopter interested in giving them a home together. As a bonded pair of 13-year-old best friends, that was the dream we had hoped for them. Unfortunately, this new medical issue has put everything on hold for now.
Despite all of this, Si remains his sweet self, and Pepper is right by his side as always. 💕
Please keep Si in your thoughts as we await the aspiration results and determine the best path forward. We are hoping for answers, a successful treatment plan, and ultimately a happy future for both of these deserving seniors.
We'll share more information as soon as we know more.
💛 Si and Pepper appreciate all of your love and support.
