Important Announcement:
JONATHAN RADO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
264 Red Maple Drive
Homer City, PA 15748
TAX ID # 45-4515822
In memory of our son, Jonathan Rado, a memorial scholarship fund has been set up to help Homer Center High School seniors further their education.
Jonathan passed away January 9th, 2012 due to brain cancer. He was an independent man, a fighter and always pushed himself to
do the most. Jonathan graduated from Homer Center High School in 2003. He was determined to go away to college and graduat4ed from Edinboro University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Administration in December 2009. Jonathan always had the attitude that you never know what you can do until you try no matter what one’s disability is. He felt that if you try and you fail, you pick yourself back up and move on to another plan; but at least you get to move on knowing you tried.
To date we have given $35,450 in scholarship money to a total of 24 students. This April $5,000 will be awarded in scholarships to Homer Center Students making a grand total of $40,450 donated to date.
In addition to the scholarships, we also donated $2,000 to Children’s Hospital Oncology/Radiation departments in memory of Jonathan from our 2023 Tournament for a grand total to date of $22,500.
Also from our 2023 proceeds, $5,000 was donated to St. Bernard’s Regional Catholic School as this was the elementary school that Jonathan attended. These funds are used to help families offset tuition needs. To date a grand total of $18,750 has been donated to this cause.
Since the tournament’s inception twelve years ago, we have donated a total of just shy of $82,000 to these worthy causes thanks to your generosity.
Unfortunately, due to small games of chance issues we are not able to hold the 2024 golf tournament to raise money for this Scholarship Fund. We would like to keep the scholarship fund
active so we will gladly accept any donations in Jonathan’s memory. Checks can be made payable to The Jonathan Rado Memorial Scholarship Fund and mailed to the above address.
By setting up this scholarship we hope to help other students like Jonathan achieve their goals.
Thank you in advance for your continued support and generosity.
