Happy Bike Month Riders,
May is National Bike month and what better way to celebrate it then to go a nice bike ride or several. But before we go on that ride, remember safety first and put on a helmet. A helmet is the most important piece of safety gear for a cyclist. Most bike-related deaths are associated with a head injury. Without proper protection a fall from a bike can result in a skull fracture or a traumatic brain injury. According to studies conducted "Approved bike helmets (ANSI or SNELL) have been shown to reduce head injury by as much as 85%, yet in a recent study only 41% of children 5-14 years of age were observed to be wearing helmets (SAFEKIDS). Children's helmets can be purchased for as little as $10 and adults for $15 in major retail shops. A small investment in a helmet goes a long way in offering continued happiness and security. So get out there and ride but be safe.
