A nor'easter was in the forecast. You showed up anyway!

Thank you to every runner, walker, volunteer, and sponsor who joined us at Ashley Reservoir for Alianza's first C***r Donut Dash. Together, we've raised $47,000 for survivors of domestic violence, so far!

Since 1980, Alianza has sheltered more than 10,000 women and children. Last year, our court-based Advocates helped 393 survivors file restraining and harassment prevention orders in the Chicopee and Holyoke District Courts.

Meet Marissa — one of the committee members behind the C***r Donut Dash.

Marissa is an active runner and a domestic violence survivor, and she's on a personal mission to complete 50 half marathons before she turns 50. She's run 29 so far! This event isn't a half marathon, but it's very important to her.

"The C***r Donut Dash means something different to me than the half marathons on my list," Marissa says. "It is my duty and such a blessing to share my story, in hopes to inspire others and as a testimony that there is a life after, and support from the community."

Over 1 in 3 women (35.6%) in the US will experience some form of domestic violence in their lifetime, and Alianza provides support to survivors in our community like Marissa when they need it most.

Kate Caligaris of Liberty Bank reached out to her community and, with help from Liberty Bank colleagues, gathered an astounding collection of donated everyday items and supplies for women and children in shelters—new children's clothing, bath towels, new bedding, cleaning supplies, toiletries, toys, and more. College H.U.N.K.S. Moving stepped up to donate pickup and delivery service to Alianza's office. Thank you to Liberty Bank and to Pages Auto, Gillis Insurance, General Cleaners of Holyoke, Carve Beauty Bar, Glendale Winery, Glow & Co., Marcotte Ford, and Holyoke YWCA for taking part in this generous effort. When a community comes together, survivors feel seen and heard!
