Unionized faculty and staff at Pioneer Valley Performing Arts are currently in negotiations that will have major impacts on all members and the community they serve.

“PVPA’s faculty and staff are currently engaged in negotiations with the school’s administration and the Board of Trustees for a new collective bargaining agreement. Throughout this process, our priorities have centered on something we know matters to all of us who are invested in PVPA’s future: making PVPA a school where talented educators and staff can come, stay, and build sustainable careers.

Two issues have become particularly important in these negotiations: fair compensation and the preservation of our existing paid-time-off structure.

We therefore call upon PVPA’s administration and leadership to work with us toward a contract that:

1. Provides meaningful and competitive wage increases that strengthen PVPA’s ability to recruit and retain excellent teachers and staff;

2. Preserves our current PTO structure and recognizes the importance of sustainable working conditions for employees;

3. Prioritizes long-term staff retention so that students benefit from experienced educators, continuity, and strong relationships with the adults in their school community;

4. Recognizes investment in faculty and staff as an investment in students and in the academic and artistic excellence that defines PVPA; and

5. Engages in good-faith bargaining toward a fair and sustainable agreement that allows PVPA employees to continue doing the work to which we have devoted ourselves.”

Sign and share PVPA-UAW’s open letter to show support for these members’ very reasonable demands.

To PVPA Families, Alumni, and Members of Our Greater Community: The faculty and staff of the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School (PVPA) are deeply committed to PVPA and to the students and families we serve. We believe profoundly in the mission of this school and in the unique educa...

IMPORTANT!

The UAW was proud to join a strong coalition of associations and unions in filing a lawsuit against the government's final rule that ends the Duration of Status framework and imposes other academic restrictions on international students and exchange visitors.

"International students and scholars shouldn't have to navigate an immigration system designed to disrupt their education, research, and lives. The UAW is joining this legal action to challenge this discriminatory and short-sighted rule and proudly stands with international workers and scholars fighting for the stability and protections they deserve." - UAW President Shawn Fain

The UAW Massachusetts CAP Council voted to endorse 14 candidates for the Massachusetts State Legislature, adding to our previous endorsement of Ed Markey for U.S. Senate and Tram T Nguyen for U.S. Congress in advance of the Democratic primary on September 1.

We’re proud that four of these candidates—John Drinkwater, Evan Mackay, Ben Ewen-Campen, and Tom Hendrickson—are current or former UAW members.
