The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Holyoke's "El Camino" program works to keep younger children out of gangs and away from trouble through mentoring.

We are saddened to announce that the MA state budget officially eliminated the Youth at Risk grant yesterday.This grant was one of the very, very few sources of funding set aside for high and proven risk adolescent youth. It is understandably easier to support funding programs serving younger kids, those still in school, those who have not yet engaged in criminal activity or violence. Those programs also provide invaluable service to our communities. However, smaller and more targeted programs like Elca Mino will be devastated or eliminated by these cuts- and there are so few dedicated to this work.
