IBEW Local 1049 Our local union of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers was chartered in 1937.

10/16/2026

On September 15, IBEW Local 1049 Business Manager Pat Guidice paid a solemn tribute to Brother Andrew Brian Jordan, Sr., a Local 1049 Journeyman Lineman and FDNY firefighter who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

The tribute was part of a special memorial program held during our General Membership Meeting. In attendance were Andrew’s brother, Thomas Jordan, also a Journeyman Lineman and proud member of IBEW Local 1049, along with members of the Jordan family.

We invite you to watch this special five-minute video highlighting the program as we reflect on the 25th anniversary of September 11.

We will never forget!

Emergency, Mother Nature hits us in the worst ways? IBEW Local Union 1049 is out there, everywhere, dedicating their skills and brotherhood to restoring power to Long Islanders and those in the Northeast. They leave their families and dedicate what they’ve been trained for, to make sure you and your families are safe. Thank you brothers and sisters for your professionalism and dedication to your craft. Business Manager Guidice and the staff here at Local 1049 are always proud and thankful for you!

While most of us are still staying safely inside, others are out in this storm answering calls, clearing roads, restoring power and helping neighbors in trouble.

To our police officers, firefighters, EMS teams, dispatchers, public works crews and utility lineworkers: thank you. I know the hours are long and the conditions are difficult. Our communities are grateful for you.

Thank you to all the hardworking men and women of IBEW Local 1049 with PSEG Long Island for being out there keeping our lights on!

We can help them by staying off flooded roads and keeping clear of downed wires. And please check on a neighbor, especially someone older or living alone.

Let’s look after one another while these crews look after us.

During today’s session of the IBEW’s 41st International Convention, Local 1049 Brother Andrew B. Jordan was honored alongside other fallen IBEW members we lost on September 11, 2001.

It was a powerful and meaningful moment to see Andrew recognized before thousands of IBEW brothers and sisters from across our Union.

We will never forget Brother Andrew B. Jordan and all of our fallen brothers and sisters we lost on September 11, 2001.
