Orrie's Light

Orrie's Light Orrie’s Light was created in memory of Orion, whose light will never fade. Together, we hold the light.

We’re here for parents grieving the loss of a child, offering love, support, and a community to carry both the heartache and the hope.

Orion’s 2nd Heavenly Birthday is coming up on July 24th.

From his birthday, through the six days of his earthly life, and the day he met Jesus, we always take this time to remember him and everything those days meant to us.

Each year, we choose one big meaningful thing to honor him. This year, it’s painted rocks from all 50 states for his new memorial garden at our new home.

Most of the rocks we’ve received so far have come from complete strangers, and that has been incredibly moving. Some have even chosen to paint and send more than one rock. We would also truly love family and friends to be part of this too. It really takes a village to love, grieve, and honor a life like his.

If you can’t participate with a painted rock, sharing this post or helping spread the word would mean just as much to us. Every bit of support helps us reach more people and get closer to our goal of one rock from each of the 50 states.

If you know us, you know Orion’s life, light, and legacy are rooted in kindness, and this feels like that continuing in the most beautiful way.

We’re deeply grateful for every single person who’s part of this for him. 🤍
We will be collecting rocks until August 1st.
Address for sending rocks is below.
You may address it to Orion Kai or Baby Orrie if you wish.

Today is Finnegan’s heavenly sixth birthday. In his honor, I spent the night making Christmas cookie kits to donate to our local pregnancy center. Some of the kits were sponsored in memory of other Heavenside babies, bringing love, remembrance, and light to families during a season that can feel especially heavy.

We are so grateful to everyone who donated, making it possible to send 12 kits this year. Your generosity allows us to honor these precious lives, keep their memories alive, and share care and connection with families navigating loss. Each kit is more than a treat. It is a small act of love, a reminder that even in grief, compassion and community continue to shine.

Gentle birthday wishes to Finnegan today. Though he is in Heaven, he is always in our hearts, and we celebrate him in every act of love and remembrance.

December 10th is Finnegan’s 6th Heavenly Birthday. This year, as we remember him and Orion and honor their Christmas in heaven, I want to share a little love and light with families who need it most.

We’re putting together Christmas Cookie and Cake Kits for families to bake together and enjoy a little sweetness this holiday season.

We are continuing our Lights of the Season Christmas card tribute for bereaved families. Each card is written with love and serves as a gentle reminder that their child’s light continues to shine. Donations help cover supplies, postage, this year’s postcard keepsake, and a small surprise for each family.

If you’d like to help, here’s how your support can make a difference:
🍪 $5 helps fill a cookie or cake kit
🎄 $12 sponsors a full kit for a family
💌 $3 helps cover postage for one Lights of the Season card
💌 $8 sponsors a full Lights of the Season card, including supplies, keepsake, and postage
Any amount helps keep this tribute going

Donations can be sent through Venmo: or you can shop our amazon wishlist to provide items directly.
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/606VHZHOFN8U?ref_=wl_share

You can give in honor of your own baby or child, and we’ll include a note with their name so their light can be a part of this too.

Each cookie, each card, and every gift is shared with love, in memory of Finnegan and Orion.

Thank you for helping us keep their light shining this Christmas.

Over the weekend, we threw a birthday “party” for Orion.

There's no rulebook for grief-thank God. Motherhood after loss is messy and wild, but beautiful in its own way.

Of course there was cake. Because gone or here, my boy still deserves frosting.

He didn't blow out the candle (obviously), but his siblings did-and a breeze showed up like it wanted to join in. I'm calling that his grand entrance.

I wasn't sure if anyone would come or if people would think I'd lost my dang mind.

But I did it anyway. Because sometimes loving a baby who isn't here means throwing a party for them, loud and messy and full of love.

I ate his slice (and maybe a little more). Some days, cake is just what you need.

Here's your permission slip: say their name loud, celebrate however you want, cry when you need, laugh when you can.

Love your baby out loud and without apology. This love is fierce and forever.

And if someone can't handle that? That's their loss, not yours.

Just wanted to share a few pictures from his "1st Beary Bittersweet BBQ Birthday Bash".

Last night I finished the blanket l've been crocheting in honor of Orion.
It's for the first baby boy born on his birthday.

I'll never get to make something like this for my own baby son.
But I poured so much time and love into this one-for a baby who isn't mine.

It turned out beautiful.
I hope they love it.
I hope it's used and held and worn down soft.

I couldn't make it for Orion
but I made it because of him. Because he lived.

That's all I really need it to say.💛

July can be a hard month when you’re grieving.

The days are long and bright. The world feels full of celebration. But when you’re missing your baby, even the sunniest days can feel heavy and quiet.

Maybe July holds a date that changed everything.
Maybe it’s when you said hello and goodbye.
Maybe it’s the month you dreamed of bringing your baby home.
Or maybe it’s just a reminder of a life you imagined but didn’t get to live.

Whatever July means for you, please know your love is seen. Your grief is real. And your baby is remembered.

It’s okay to feel all the things this month brings — the hope, the heartache, the love, and the quiet moments in between.
You don’t have to hide your feelings or explain them to anyone.
There is room here for your tears and your smiles, your memories and your silence.

Here, your grief is held with care and your baby’s memory is never forgotten. If you feel comfortable, please share your July babies’ names or meaningful dates in the comments. Together, we can hold space for each other and honor the love that never fades.

Sending you love and gentle peace this July. You are never alone.
