A heartfelt ‘Thank you!’ to the kind and generous soul who donated three much needed shower benches. They’re rated to 400 lbs, and are in the locker awaiting someone’s need.

Located at the Vets Club (926 W 6th St, Holton KS), our program services Holton and the surrounding areas.

There is no phone at the Vets Club. To contact the medical equipment staff:
Call or text Pat (785.851.0803). Please leave a message, and we’ll get back to you as quickly as we can to make an appointment to issue/receive items. Unless extraordinary issues exist, we can typically issue/receive items 0730-0800, 11-1130, and 1600-1630 M-F, or 0700-1000 on Saturdays.
DO NOT leave messages on Facebook. Facebook messages won’t reach us; we won’t respond. Please call or text the number above.

Here’s how our Medical Equipment Loan Program works:
- Equipment is for anyone; you need not be a Veteran.
- Keep it for as long as you need it.
- It’s free at no cost whatsoever.
- Donations to the Med Equip Loan Program are not required, but always appreciated; used to purchase replacement parts, etc. Make checks out to Mary L. Bair Post 44, American Legion, w/‘Medical Equip‘ in the notation.
- When no longer needed, please consider donating the equipment back to us so we can give it a maintenance check and a good cleaning, and get it ready for someone else to use.
- If you need something we don’t have, don’t hesitate to contact us anyway. We’ll put it out on social media and see what we can do.
- We are a ‘Loan Locker’ not a repair shop. We do not work on personal property; only equipment that has been donated to the program.
- We loan the equipment on a first come, first served basis. No reservations, please.

The best way to make your needs known for medical equipment - either requesting, or donating equipment - is to call or text Pat at 785.851.0803. If you call, it will go right to my voice mail, so please leave a message with your needs. Texting works too. In either case, I’ll get back to you just as soon as I can and we can set up an appointment (I’m typically out and about and not cooling my heels at the Vets Club).
Please do not send messages here on Facebook. I don’t receive fb messages, so am unable to reply. Commenting to a post sometimes works, but I’m on fb only very early in the morning or very late at night. I do not have fb on my phone, so once I’ve started my day, I won’t see fb.

PRODUCT RECALL
The Medline Bed Assist Bar (Model MDS6800BA) is subject to an official safety recall due to severe entrapment and asphyxiation risks. See picture.
Recall and Safety Information
The Hazard: According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), users can become entrapped within the rail or in the dangerous gap between the rail and the side of the mattress, posing a risk of death by asphyxiation.
Incidents: The Medline Industries Recall Announcement notes that roughly 1.5 million units of models MDS6800BA and MDS6800BAH were tied to two reported entrapment fatalities.
Affected Product: Made of black metal tubing with a rounded foam grip and a fabric storage pouch, sold between July 2009 and March 2024.
What You Should Do
Stop Use Immediately: Discontinue use of the bed rail right away.

This Saturday is the fall consignment auction!! What better way to prepare than to drop by the Vets Club to enjoy a hearty breakfast! Serving 7-10am, this breakfast’s special includes sausage, scrambled eggs, and pancakes. So come on over, enjoy breakfast, then fill your cup and visit for a while!
