Why do boys love adventure?

Mark Twain said, “There comes a time in every rightly constructed boy’s life that he has a raging desire to go somewhere and dig for hidden treasure.”

The search for adventure drives some boys to video games, where they can conquer kingdoms and gain virtual accolades. Others find their adventures in sports.

But deep down, the call of the woods, the wild, the mountains and the seashore live deep in all young boys. You can feed that desire and strengthen the bond with your son at the same time. Take him on a wilderness adventure, or hike to a waterfall, or camp in the woods by a crackling fire amidst the lightning bugs. Lead him on his adventure!

The Trail men had a very busy October with 2 campouts. The first one was a joint campout with the Bethany troop, where they camped, played in the woods, built a shelter, worked on cooking skills, and went and enjoyed an afternoon at Gospel Farms.
The second campout was for our Navigator. He joined troops from Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and possibly other states at the Recoil Rally 2 at Camp Ethan in Mclouth KS. James Jeffries from MO-2820 led the Archery program for all trailmen. There was also rifle and trap shooting opportunities.

Looking forward to seeing these men grow their relationship with Christ!

Just a short update. We participated in the Jesse James Parade in Kearney Mo today. We had 8 Trail men who braved the early rain showers and joined us. They handed out candy and fliers. We are excited to be out in the community talking with others. If anyone else is interested in more information, please reach out.

4 Things Boys Crave:

1️⃣ Belonging with Peers and Family - Do I Measure Up?
Boys crave that sense of belonging, both among their friends and within their family. They want to feel accepted and valued for who they are as they navigate life's challenges together. Let's create an environment that challenges, affirms, and guides boys to find their identity in Christ.

2️⃣ Sense of Competence - Am I Good Enough?
Encouragement and belief in their abilities go a long way for boys! Let's celebrate their achievements and build their confidence. When they feel competent, they'll dare to dream big and achieve even greater things!

3️⃣ Sense of Worth - Am I Worthwhile to Someone Else?
Boys and men often find their value is what they can provide. They need to both succeed and know that they are loved, valued, and appreciated even when they fail. Feeling valued by others secures their identity and enables them to build strong and meaningful connections.

4️⃣ Autonomy - Can I Do Things on My Own?
A boy's longing for independence and responsibility is a necessary God-given desire to enable him to develop into a mature man of character. Encouraging boys to take on challenges and make decisions independently empowers them to grow into self-reliant individuals. Boys thrive when provided with proper challenge, adventure, accomplishment, accolade, and advancement. .

And let's not forget, boys connect through shared experiences! Whether it's hiking a trail, or fixing a sink, hands-on activities foster bonds that last a lifetime. Let's make memories and support their growth!

A boy is not like his sister. He learns differently, he has different needs, and he requires different attention. Yet too much of a boy’s day is spent in environments where he is told to “come inside, sit down, be still, do what he is told, and behave like the girls.”
