AHEPA Chapter #517 of Holmdel, NJ
Honored at Ronald McDonald House NYC
Dec. 12, 2022.
AHEPA Chapter #517 of Holmdel, NJ shared the honor of being recognized
along with Daughters Medusa Chapter #345 of Long Island, NY as Ronald
McDonald’s NYC Greek Division honorees at a Christmas Dinner held at the
NY Athletic Club on Dec. 12, 2022
Chapter #517’s president Dimitri Dimitriades spoke that evening about their
start of supporting the house over 20 years ago from the vision of their
Brother Jim Nikitopoulos and his wife Angela who had the unfortunate need
to stay at a house while their son, Steven was receiving treatment at The
Children’s Hospital. Having been served a home cooked meal by a family who
volunteered their Christmas Eve to help others, he was determined to pay it
forward in memory of his son and began an annual tradition of hosting a
dinner for its guests. It is the most anticipated event of the year (and for the
past 20) for the brothers who with the help of Loucas Soficli and Florio
Petrou cook, prepare, deliver and serve dinner for up to 100 guests staying at
the house.
Supreme President Jimmy Kokotas spoke about the synergy of the
organization amongst all branches of AHEPA sharing the common goal of
helping the house and how rewarding to have Brothers, Daughtrers, Sons &
Maids celebrating their achievements together.
The evening’s attendees included representatives from the Archdiocese,
Greece and Cyprus Consulates, Supreme lodge of the Sons and Maids,
District Governor of the Daughters Lainie Christou and many dignitaries
throughout the metropolitan area.
