Chana Kaiman, LCSW-RPT, sits down with trauma specialist Dr. Shani Verschleiser to discuss the profound impact of a parent's immediate reaction. When a child gathers the immense courage to come forward about s*xual abuse, the most powerful first step you can take is to say three words: "I believe you." As Dr. Shani explains, even if you are in shock, research shows that a parent's initial, supportive response is the single biggest mitigating factor in a child's healing journey and recovery from trauma.

Dr. Shani is the founder of Magenu, an organization dedicated to offering research-based curriculums to educate parents, children, and teachers on child personal safety and s*xual abuse prevention.

Meet Rabbi Reuven Boshnack, the visionary writer behind the Bereishis Foundation’s innovative Life Skills and Social Emotional curriculum for first-year yeshiva high school students.

Jewish education has constantly evolved from the advent of compulsory schooling to the creation of the modern yeshiva high school to meet the unique needs of every era. In a generation facing unprecedented emotional and social challenges, this new curriculum is transforming the way schools prepare boys and girls not just for academic success, but for life.

Did you know that predators often target the entire family before they target a child?

In our newest episode of the Worlds Within podcast, Dr. Shani Verschleiser reveals a chilling reality: offenders search for a child they can get close to, but they also specifically look for families. Their primary goal is often to gain the family's trust first.

Why? Because if they can get you to trust them, you stop looking for the warning signs. This blind spot makes it that much easier for them to isolate a child.

Host Chana Kaiman sits down with Dr. Verschleiser, a licensed Clinical Social Worker, trauma expert, and founder of Magenu.org, for a vital, eye-opening conversation that every parent, educator, and caregiver needs to hear. We dive deep into child personal safety, trauma-informed care, and the proactive steps we can take to protect our children.

We are thrilled to announce that a brand new episode of the Worlds Within the Bereishis Foundation Podcast is officially live!

This week, we are joined by psychotherapist Jonathan Green, who specializes in helping individuals navigate relationship conflict, anxiety, depression, and addiction. In this highly insightful episode, Jonathan helps us explore the powerful intersection of psychoanalysis and spiritual discipline.

We dive deep into the psychospiritual meaning behind the days between Pesach and Shavuot (the counting of the Omer) and how we can use this time for profound emotional growth.

Here is a sneak peek of what we discuss:

The Sefirot and Inner Balance: Understanding emotional attributes like Tiferet (harmony) and how to integrate them into our daily lives.

Healing the Fragmented Self: How Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy principles can help us approach our inner chaos with curiosity instead of judgment.

The "Wounded Healer" Archetype: Why our deepest wounds and vulnerabilities are often the very things that allow us to connect with and heal others.

Repairing Shame: A fascinating look at the Kabbalistic roots of shame and how we can learn to hold both our magnificence and our limitations simultaneously.

Whether you are interested in psychotherapy, spiritual growth, or simply want to learn how to live with more purpose and harmony, this conversation is packed with illuminating insights.

We are 18 days away from our first anniversary, and we just wanted to say thank you.

In the lead-up to May 8th, it’s easy to get caught up in the numbers, the 448 therapy sessions, the school curriculums, the growth. But behind every one of those numbers is a child who feels seen and a family that feels supported.

None of that would have happened without you. You have been the ones providing those tools. You’ve helped us build a space where our youth can find resilience instead of fear.

Thank you for being part of the Bereishis Foundation family.

With sincere gratitude,
The Bereishis Foundation Team

If a doctor runs into a surgery room carrying the very disease they’re trying to treat, they aren't helping - they’re part of the problem.

The same is true for our community’s mental health.

If we approach our children’s struggles with our own fear, survival mode, or self-centered anxiety, we can’t provide the medicine they actually need. To be a source of healing, we have to ensure we aren’t bringing the "disease" of unaddressed trauma or emotional instability into the room.

This is why the Bereishis Foundation exists.

We don’t just "fix" problems; we provide the environment for true healing:

For the Youth: Giving them the language of resilience through our school curriculums so they don't catch the "disease" of despair.

For the Families: Removing the financial burden of therapy so parents can focus on being the healthy, steady presence their children need.

We are 22 days away from our 1st Anniversary on May 8th. Help us keep the community healthy!
