💚 California Climate Action Corps serving at our food distribution@lovethecitycenter

We loved having our fellows work alongside our amazing regular volunteers, and were happy to welcome LMU students to the community, too!
Together, we’re strengthening our mission to rescue millions of pounds of food, feed our communities, and keep food out of landfills. Through the California Climate Action Corps, mobilizing communities to take local climate action and build a more sustainable future.

Climate action is stronger when we work together. 🌎💚 Thrive Market lovethecitycenter

We’re proud to collaborate with climate-action partners like Thrive Market as part of the FoodCycle ecosystem, bringing together businesses, volunteers, nonprofits, and communities to create a more resilient food system.

Our partnership with Thrive Market helps FoodCycle move resources where they’re needed most, connecting shelf-stable goods and fresh produce with community members while keeping good food in circulation and out of landfills. It’s a powerful reminder that food recovery is climate action—and that collaboration can turn individual efforts into collective impact.

A huge thank you to every volunteer who showed up for our Community Day! Your time, energy, and willingness to get involved helped us move food and serve our community faster and more efficiently. We even finished hours ahead of schedule! 🙌

Collaboration is a big part of FoodCycle’s leadership strategy because the challenges of food waste, hunger, and climate change are too interconnected—and too big—for any one organization to solve alone. We’re building an ecosystem where everyone has a role to play.

Our Community Day with Thrive Market Vintage Faith Foursquare Church showed what’s possible when we come together to fight hunger and food waste. 💚🌎

A huge THANK YOU to Thrive Market for providing shelf-stable goods to support our community, and to every volunteer who showed up ready to make a difference!

Together, we transferred bags of shelf-stable groceries from Thrive Market to bags which included rescued fresh produce, helping get more nourishing food into the hands of the people who need it. Thanks to our incredible volunteers, we wrapped up hours ahead of schedule — a true testament to what we can accomplish when we work together!

This work matters now more than ever. As climate change intensifies extreme heat, droughts, and disruptions to our food supply, families already experiencing food insecurity face even greater challenges accessing nutritious meals. Meanwhile, perfectly good food continues to go to waste, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions when it ends up in landfills.

At FoodCycle, we’re working to change that by rescuing surplus food and redirecting it to the communities that need it most. Because fighting hunger and protecting our planet can — and must — go hand in hand. 🌱
