It’s DNA Day!

Dive into Environmental DNA with the MEEC. Our new grant-funded educational program “Everglades Classroom” offers students the opportunity to make hypotheses, learn the fundamentals of DNA and collect scientific data from the field.

From data collection to water quality, this program generously funded by The Batchelor Foundation brings real life science to the informal classroom at the MEEC. Researchers, like Dr. Caballero from NSU’s Aquatic Vertebrate Integrative Conservation Lab, show students best laboratory practices and teach about the real projects taking place within the field of environmental DNA today!

On April 10, two sisters will clip into their pedals in Miami and begin riding north, all the way to Provincetown, Massachusetts. Denise and Barb St. Pierre are embarking on the Cycle Hope Ride: a 1,600-mile journey along the East Coast Greenway to raise
awareness about climate change, sustainable energy, and civic action.
