A heartfelt mahalo to everyone at Post 43 who helped make Hukilau Sunday such a fun and memorable day!

In addition to a wonderful day of Hawaiian music, dance, and food, we officially welcomed five new members into the Post 43 ʻohana:

- Lawrence Sanchez
- Gary Landry Jr.
- Skee Goedhart
- Todd Seligman
- Chris Montgomery

We were honored to have Sons of the American Legion State Commander Bill Hernandez lead the new-member induction ceremony.

Guests enjoyed wonderful hula performances by a local hula hālau led by veteran Pika Laukea Ronquillio, along with live music from the Hilo Hi-Flyers.

A huge shout-out to Tony Duran and Chad McMurray for transforming the Deco Bar into the coolest tiki bar in town!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the celebration such a success. What a great day for our Post 43 ʻohana! 🌺🤙

Take a look at this photo of Highland Ave which was taken in 1927 just before Post 43 was built. You can see the empty lot on the left of what is to become the beautiful location of the American Legion Post 43 in Hollywood !! 🇺🇲🫡

Sons of the American Legion Squadron 43 - Hollywood, CA

Last Sunday, Squadron 43 co-hosted a Family Fun Day that brought together veterans, families, and the local community for an afternoon full of energy and connection.

The event featured a lineup of talented youth rock bands who took the stage and delivered an impressive mix of classic covers and original music.

Community involvement was front and center, with local neighborhood and community councils tabling throughout the event. Attendees had the chance to connect, learn about local initiatives, and get more involved in the area.

A meaningful highlight of the afternoon was the flag retirement ceremony, conducted with respect and care. It offered a moment of reflection and honored the traditions and values that the American Legion continues to uphold.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the day!
