Autism Awareness Month, celebrated annually in April, is now known as AUTISM ACCEPTANCE MONTH.💙

The purpose is to celebrate and promote acceptance of Autism which occurs in one in every 36 children as of 2020 in the United States. Autism, a complex developmental condition affecting the patient’s ability to interact, communicate, and progress, has many subtypes.

During Autism Acceptance Month, we take these 30 days to celebrate the differences of, learn more about, and empower autistic individuals!

Light Blue is associated with calmness and acceptance and is the primary color designated for autism. Its popularity also stemmed from the worldwide Autism Speaks initiative, Light It Up Blue.💡

The puzzle piece, also made famous by Autism Speaks, is the most commonly recognizable symbol denoting autism. Typically rainbow-colored or solid blue, the puzzle piece continues to be the used as the most well known emblem for most Autism related organizations.

AAOK’s mission, with your help, is to continue to do all we can for the underprivileged within the South Florida Autism community!
