🦁 WHAT A DAY FOR LIONS HISTORY! 🦁
On Sunday our Hollywood Lions Club family was honored to join our Guiding Lions and friends at the Dania Beach Lions Club for a VERY special meeting!
The Dania Lions found something incredible - the ORIGINAL CHARTER from the first Hollywood Lions Club and presented it to us! 😱🙏 What a treasure.
*A little Hollywood history lesson for you all:*
The ORIGINAL Hollywood Lions Club was Chartered on *April 30, 1947* - right after World War II when Hollywood was booming and our community was coming together to build and serve! 🇺🇸
And here's the cool connection - our brothers and sisters in Dania Beach chartered just *7 weeks later on June 20, 1947!* So Hollywood was actually formed just weeks before Dania. Two great cities, two great clubs, born together almost 80 years ago! 🤝
Back in the day, that original Hollywood Lions Club did what Lions do best - WE SERVE. They were Knights of the Blind, supported sight conservation and eye glasses for those in need, built our local community, supported youth, helped after hurricanes, and made Hollywood a better place to live.
The original club eventually closed many moons away... but the spirit never died! Our NEW Hollywood Lions Club was re-chartered on *May 10, 2017* and I've been so proud to be part of this family for the last 9 years! 💛💙
So what did we do with that historic charter? We proudly handed it over to the *Hollywood Historical Society* where it belongs - so it can be preserved and displayed for all residents of Hollywood to see our amazing history! 🏛️✨
We also got to celebrate the Lions Hearing Bank - such an important cause that is so close to every Lions heart. 👓👂 as well as the Hollywood Lions Club Recycle Challenge bench that was dedicated to Hollywood Historical Society!
Great food, even better camaraderie, and a whole lot of LIONS PRIDE. It was an honor.
A HUGE thank you to the *Dania Beach Lions Club* for finding and protecting this piece of history, and an even bigger thank you to all the members of the ORIGINAL Hollywood Lions Club who had the vision to start this legacy back in 1947. We are standing on your shoulders!
Once a Lion, Always a Lion! 🦁❤️
