Bonsai People – The Vision of Muhammad Yunus is an award-winning film about Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus’ work confronting poverty with both microcredit and social business and how it empowers women along the way.
Yunus started making microloans after the debilitating famine of 1974, which led to the establishment of the Grameen Bank (“village bank”). Through this work, Yunus has not only observed the power of microcredit to unleash human potential, but also how women continually put the money to better use to lift their families out of poverty.
