In California, and potentially other states and countries where Driscoll's operates, the company has berry fields hundreds of feet away from elementary and middle schools. Family-owned Driscoll's is headquartered in Watsonville, California, and state records show the company uses multiple carcinogenic pesticides that drift onto school playgrounds and even drift INTO the schools, poisoning the children and teachers. Driscoll's HAS NOT been a good neighbor.

New Study: Xanthan Gum Could Cause Gut Inflammation. Xanthan gum is a common food additive that’s used to stabilize or thicken foods, and one ingredient that packaged salad dressings, protein powders, gluten-free pasta, and ice cream often have in common.

Scientists at the Federal University of São Paulo published a study in the peer-reviewed scientific journal PLOS One that analyzed how a diet heavy in xanthan gum could affect our gut lining. To conduct their research, the team added xanthan gum into the diets of rats for four weeks. The rats were separated into four groups, with one group receiving no xanthan gum and the other three groups receiving one quarter, one half, and one full dose of the additive. After the 10-week feeding period was over, the researchers found that all three doses of xanthan gum caused the rats to develop signs of colon inflammation, such as higher levels of the inflammatory marker TNF-alpha and changes to claudin-2, a protein that helps regulate how water and sodium pass through the intestinal wall.

The researchers pointed out that their findings could help explain why xanthan gum has previously been linked to necrotizing enterocolitis in premature infants. “Until then, the link between xanthan gum and the disease in infants was merely a clinical hypothesis or an empirical observation. This study on rats proved causality, that is, that xanthan gum does cause inflammation,” Claudia Oller, the UNIFESP professor who coordinated the study, explained to News Medical.

How many more times will the Trump EPA act in the interests of Big Ag and Big Chemical over the health of Americans? Or not act, in this case.

Nitrate pollution of waterways and contamination of drinking water has reached crisis levels, especially in farms states such as Iowa, where cancer rates are through the roof. And all this disease is linked directly to nitrate and pesticide pollution caused by GMO farmers.

The EPA set a threshold for nitrates in drinking water more than 30 years ago at a level designed to avoid harming babies after research showed that ingesting nitrates could trigger dangerously low oxygen in babies’ blood, what’s known as “blue baby syndrome.” The EPA announced it would re-assess nitrates — and nitrites — in 2017 to look at other potential health impacts, including cancer, but the work was suspended in 2019 by the first Trump administration. The Biden administration re-started the work, and the EPA accepted public comments on the planned assessment in 2023 but the agency hasn’t provided an update since. Earlier this year, the Trump administration eliminated the EPA’s Office of Research and Development, which housed the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) and was responsible for such health assessments. The current EPA nitrate threshold for nitrates under the Safe Drinking Water Act is 10 parts per million (ppm) — a level that researchers and health advocates say is far too high to protect health. Studies have linked nitrate exposure below 10 ppm to increased risk of colorectal cancer, bladder cancer, thyroid disease and other health problems.

But the Trump EPA doesn't want to do anything. Why? Because it means REGULATING. Big Ag, Bayer-Monsanto and the chemical industry, and GMO farmers will never do the right thing if they are not forced to. Because their polluting systems of farming require increasing the pollution. Increased pollution equals increased profits.

This is not the first study linking glyphosate to autism. The first we saw was back in 2013, linking glyphosate to changes in the microbiome that are present in autistic children. There have been many since then. What do you think it will take to find an administration that is actually interested, and willing, to do something about this toxin that has contaminated a huge part of our food supply?

The authors conclude: "The finding that commercial GBH formulations consistently produce larger or broader neurobehavioral effects than glyphosate alone at equivalent glyphosate concentrations underscores the toxicological importance of adjuvant components in real-world herbicide formulations and suggests that risk assessments based solely on glyphosate may underestimate the neurobehavioral risk of actual GBHs exposure to humans. Collectively, these findings substantiate growing concerns about the neurobehavioral safety of glyphosate-based herbicides, including autism spectrum disorders, and the adequacy of current regulatory thresholds to protect human populations."

BOYCOTT DRISCOLL'S and sign the petition: change.org/StopPoisoningOurSchoolchildren

Chloropicrin was used as a poison gas in World War I. Today, Driscoll’s uses it as a pesticide soil fumigant on its berry farms, injected into the soil to kill fungi, microbes and insects. The pesticide is volatile, readily evaporates, forming vapors that can drift for miles. Some of Driscoll’s berry fields are located only hundreds of feet away from elementary and middle schools. Chloropicrin is just one of many toxic pesticides that Driscoll's uses on its conventional farms. The poisons have been detected on school grounds and even inside of the schools, putting children in harm's way. This is NOT acceptable.

NEW STUDY Finds 89% of Avocado Oil-labeled Processed Foods Tested Contain Other Oils. If you've been reaching for chips, mayonnaise or salad dressing labeled "made with avocado oil," there's a good chance the oil inside isn't pure avocado oil, despite it being the only listed oil ingredient. University of California, Davis, researchers tested processed foods marketed as containing avocado oil. They found 48 of the 54 avocado oil-labeled products were adulterated with cheaper oils. The study was published in Applied Food Research. Researchers purchased the products in 2025 and 2026 from online retailers and California stores. They represent only a portion of the avocado oil processed food market. "Consumers are increasingly paying a premium for products made with avocado oil or olive oil," said lead author Selina Wang, Professor of Cooperative Extension in the UC Davis Department of Food Science and Technology. "They deserve to get what they pay for and food manufacturers deserve confidence that the ingredients they purchase from suppliers are authentic." Researchers found that of the products tested, 93% of chips, 71% of mayonnaises and 100% of salad dressings labeled as authentic avocado oil contained other oils. By contrast, when researchers applied the same purity tests to 20 olive oil-labeled processed foods, only one failed.

Food fraud is becoming an increasing problem as shoppers are choosing healthier, higher quality ingredients. Americans are getting ripped off. This is another example of our government, which is responsible for assuring shoppers aren't being defrauded, being asleep at the wheel. Food companies should step up and test the ingredients they use, especially if those ingredients are imported.

Most of us assume that when we buy food for ourselves and our families, the packaging surrounding it has been tested and proven safe. We trust that the container holding a child's snack, a family's takeout meal, or fresh produce from the grocery store won't contaminate the food inside.

Unfortunately, that trust is often misplaced.

Whether you buy conventional food or organic food, toxic packaging can contaminate what ends up on your plate. Choosing healthier foods should not be undermined by chemicals hidden in the packaging.

Food packaging comes in many forms—plastic clamshells, Styrofoam containers, paperboard boxes, metal cans, plastic wraps, and more. Hidden within much of this packaging are toxic chemicals that can migrate directly into the food we eat.

Despite repeated industry assurances that food packaging chemicals are safe, study after study has shown that carcinogenic, endocrine-disrupting chemicals used in both virgin and recycled plastics migrate into food. In fact, recycled plastics likely contain an even more complex mixture of hazardous contaminants.

The No Toxics in Food Packaging Act would ban many of the most hazardous chemicals used in food packaging and food processing materials. The bill targets chemicals linked to cancer, endocrine disruption, reproductive harm, developmental damage, and other serious health risks—including PFAS "forever chemicals," phthalates, bisphenols such as BPA and BPS, styrene polymers, formaldehyde, benzene, ethylene oxide, and numerous other toxic substances.

The Rodale Institute, pioneers of organic and regenerative agriculture, broke ground on its $24 million Center for Regenerative Organic Innovation in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. Opening in Spring 2028, this international hub will advance research and education to transform the food system. Housed in a historic, net-zero energy barn, the Center is central to Rodale's $139 million "10 Million Acre Solution" campaign, aiming to transition 10 million acres of industrial farmland to regenerative organic and educate 100,000 farmers by 2030. This initiative combats chemical-reliant agriculture, emphasizing soil and human health. Pennsylvania contributed $4 million to the project, which seeks to establish the state as a leader in sustainable farming and empower a new generation of agricultural professionals.

This is TRUE regenerative agriculture. Not that GMO-chemical-nonsense fake-regenerative that Bayer-Monsanto is promoting. Thank you, Rodale.
