Love this!! Can I please move to The Netherlands?

The Netherlands has officially banned most consumer fireworks to protect animals from the fear, stress, and suffering caused by loud explosions.

The new rules took effect on August 1, 2026, and are set to apply for the first time during the 2026 to 2027 New Year celebrations. The ban aims to reduce the harm caused by fireworks while allowing limited exceptions.

Every year, loud fireworks leave dogs and cats trembling, hiding, and desperately trying to escape. Wild birds can also panic and take flight in the darkness, putting themselves at risk as they flee the noise.

The ban does not cover every type of firework. Small category F1 fireworks remain permitted, and professional displays or certain approved community events may still be allowed.

Animals cannot understand why the sky suddenly erupts with deafening noise. They only feel the fear. Celebrations should bring happiness without forcing innocent animals to suffer.

Brenda is a 2-year-old, 70 lb pit bull who loves everyone she meets. She’s affectionate, emotionally expressive, and happiest when she’s right next to you. She had an awful start in life, but she still adores people, and she’s wonderful with kids.

She is available for adoption or foster-to-adopt, and the rescue covers all of her expenses while she’s in foster!

What she’s like:

Active and playful, and obsessed with fetch 🎾
Loves walks, toys, and cuddling on the couch
Perfect in the car
Crate trained and leash trained
Spayed and microchipped
Gentle, sweet, and friendly with everyone

What she needs:

-A home with no other animals, so she can be your one and only. Brenda plays well with other dogs but is still working on some other social behavior.
-A bath once a week, and allergy pills. Her skin is improving and well managed.

Brenda would thrive with someone interested in natural, holistic care. We’re happy to share everything that’s working for her. 🌿
