Part 2: We’re Not Finished Yet. 💗🐉

So…what happened after our first-time steerer, Kelly, was knocked into the water?

The rescue team quickly reached her and pulled her from the water.

But Kelly had other plans.

She looked at them and screamed:

“Get me back to my boat! We’re not finished yet!”

They brought her back to our boat, and she climbed back in.

“Give me 3 seconds…”

She got settled.

“Paddles up…AND GO!”

And we went.

We soared across the water, paddling harder and faster than ever. There was no hesitation. No looking back. Just 22 women moving together with one goal:

Finish the race.

And we did. 💗

When we returned to shore, our coach gathered us together. Through tears, he told us that in all his many years of coaching, watching how our team responded in that moment was one of the proudest moments of his coaching career.

He saw resilience.

He saw determination.

He saw a team refuse to give up.

Other teams who had been watching came up to us afterward and said the same thing:

“That was incredible.”

They watched Kelly fall.

They watched us respond.

They watched her get back in the boat.

And they watched us keep going.

Isn’t that what life after cancer can feel like?

You get knocked off course. Sometimes unexpectedly. Sometimes in ways you never imagined.

You fall.

You get back up.

You find your people.

And when someone says, “Are you ready?”

You say:

“Give me 3 seconds.”

Then you put your paddles up…

and GO. 🐉💗

Because we’re not finished yet.

We are Fierce Fighters.
