Today’s EV & Battery Energy Storage Systems Incident Response Training offered a practical look at the evolving hazards first and second responders are facing in the field.

Led by instructors James Russo, Fire Chief, Hollywood, FL (Ret.); Oscar Rodriguez, Battalion Chief, Margate, FL; and Doug LeValley, DC, Seminole Tribe / Fort Lauderdale (Ret.), the training covered EV, BESS, and photovoltaic incident response, parking garage and charging station hazards, firefighting tool capabilities, reporting requirements, tactical updates, recent burn study findings, updated case studies, and more.

The Southeast Florida Clean Cities Coalition is collecting data for the 2025 Annual Report as part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities program.

This report documents regional progress in alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies and helps quantify emissions reductions across Southeast Florida.

Stakeholders are asked to complete the reporting template with fleet and fuel data for the 2025 calendar year, including vehicle types, fuel usage, and vehicle miles traveled.

The template can be downloaded at the link in bio or at https://bit.ly/4c3KyhC.

Submissions are due by April 20.
