St. Paul's Garden Club members enjoyed their spring luncheon at a members home this past Wednesday. The weather was perfect and the food was awesome as usual. Such a great way to learn and grow and make new friends along the way.

What could be more fun than getting your hands dirty in the Golden Trowel contest at Plantasia on a Friday evening? Jess Charters and Patti Dutko did an amazing job in a short amount of time transforming this empty planter into a colorful arrangement worthy of any patio.

Yesterday St. Paul's Garden Club held their second April Spring Tea. Members and guests were treated to hot earl grey tea, scones, pastries and finger sandwiches served on fine china. Congratulations to Camille Campbell who organized and executed the event which was seamless in every detail. Members wore a variety of hats to celebrate spring and had a great time chatting over tea and sandwiches.

Last week we co-hosted the annual meeting of the East Low Country District Garden Clubs at St. James Episcopal Church, James Island, along with Riverland Terrace and South Windermere garden clubs. The day prior at our monthly meeting we packed 150 gift bags for attendees along with succulent bowl centerpieces for the tables. It is amazing what these ladies can do, volunteering their time to make the event a success and getting everything delivered and set up in record time. Vendors were kept busy and we shared a wonderful catered lunch by Southern Bear Catering. So great to get together with other Low Country garden clubs and get to know our fellow gardeners.

Look for beautiful lunar moths right now. I spotted one of these drying its wings in the garden and the other on the wall of the gas station in Hollywood. Be careful where you tread, they tend to blend right in to their surroundings (well, maybe not the one at the gas station).

St. Paul's Garden Club celebrated our 2023 Holiday Luncheon on Wednesday December 13th at the home of one of our members. Thank you Kimberly, Fred and Hilary for making sure the day was perfect. Over 40 members attended the event. I think this is a record! New friends were made and a good time was had by all. Dena was presented with a glass camellia bowl for all her hard work as our President in 2022/23. Our club is growing and we have lots more things on the agenda for 2024 and beyond.

Our members came through yet again with a great selection of toys and gifts for the MUSC Childrens Hospital project.

This past Friday St. Paul's Garden Club dedicated a Blue Star Memorial Marker in historic Meggett, SC. The marker was the Presidents Project of Dena Clair and was attended by members of VFW, David Stoudenmire, President of Garden Club of SC, Peggy Benton, Director of East Lowcountry Garden Clubs, Barbara Bokor, Garden Club of SC, Irene Vaughn Green, guest speaker, members of St. Pauls Garden Club, Meggett Mayor Buster Herrington, and Ravenel Mayor Steve Tumblestone. Refreshments were provided by the kind ladies of SPGC who put together an array of sandwiches and desserts for the event. Barbara Bokor explained the origins of the Blue Star and Gold Star markers and highway markers and the differences between them. Irene gave a very lively speech on her adventures as a nurse in Vietnam and what it means to veterans to be thanked for their service.

Veterans Day is this Saturday. Have you thanked a Veteran today?
