On Tuesday, September 22, the Community Empowerment Committee hosted its third annual Aging Gracefully event in recognition of National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day. The event brought together community members for a morning of engaging games, valuable educational resources, and meaningful connections.

We were honored to welcome two inspiring guest speakers: Klifton Fehr of BeFehr Wellness, who shared insights on mental health and emotional well-being as we age, and Dr. Mark Schweizer of Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine, who discussed the importance of oral health care and aging with HIV.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our community partners, both within and beyond the Ryan White System of Care, for helping make this event truly un-be-leaf-able! 🍁 Your support, collaboration, and commitment to our community continue to make a lasting impact.

The Broward Ryan White Part A HIV Health Services Planning Council was honored to participate in this year’s National Ryan White Conference in Washington, D.C., alongside the Community Partnership Division (Ryan White Part A Office) of the Broward County Department of Human Services.

During the conference, our Chair and Vice Chair proudly presented an accepted abstract and poster, while also engaging with colleagues from across the nation, attending insightful sessions, and exchanging ideas with leaders, partners, and advocates dedicated to improving HIV care and services.

In addition, our Director of Planning and Quality Management, Planning Council Chair, and the Ryan White Part A Office collaborated to present during the Planning Council (PC)/Planning Body (PB) Institute Session 301: Effective Practices in Community Engagement and Data-Informed Decision Making.

This year’s conference provided valuable learning opportunities, fresh perspectives, meaningful connections, and innovative ideas. It also deepened our appreciation for the important work being done today and inspired us as we continue advancing our shared mission.

Congratulation to Jose Castillo, the Broward County Ryan White HIV Health Services Planning Council’s Member of the Quarter for Quarter 1 (March 1, 2026 – May 31, 2026)!

Jose currently serves as Chair of the System of Care (SOC) Committee and has been an integral member of the Planning Council since 2022. During the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) crisis, he worked closely with the Priority Setting and Resource Allocation and Quality Management Committees to help guide meaningful decisions during that critical time.

Jose brings valuable expertise to his role and is never afraid to ask the tough questions that drive meaningful improvements. His dedication to the Planning Council and the community is truly commendable.

Congratulations, Jose, and thank you for your outstanding leadership and service!
