*******Please note- this is from the DNR's page, not the Friends.******** We are so glad there will be something for campers this year, put on exclusively by the DNR. We will be back for spooky fun next season. Happy camping everyone!

Have no fear, the tradition continues….

The spooky fun of Hollyween will be happening this year! Mark your calendars for October 10-11 and October 17-18 for our annual event. This year park staff will be hosting a site decorating competition, costume contest, trick-or-treating, co****le tournament, plant-a-seed pumpkin patch, pumpkin bowing, Find Frankenstein scavenger hunt, haunted trail, photos with Smokey Bear and more! Detailed information will be available closer to the event, so stay tuned.

We are absolutely devestated to announce that the Friends of Holly will not be hosting Hollyween festivities at the park this year. Despite repeated reminders and constant requests to park management, sites were not reserved for event location. Phone calls, emails, in-person chats, & texts from group members were responded to saying it was taken care of, but it never was. For the past 30 years, our small group of volunteers has dedicated multiple weeks before the events and countless hours during making a fun time for all. At our July meeting we debated several hours and couldn't find a feasible way to host. We were assured the park manager would attend the planning meeting, or at least a park represenative, so that we could talk about alternative solutions but no one showed. To this day we are being told it'll be taken care of, but it seems we won't be informed in time to make a plan (yes it takes that long). It is our hope that the park chooses to do something, but in the past the only contribution has closing the roads, buying cider and visqueen, and holding the sites for us to pay for so we can put it all together. Though we as the group won't be putting on events for 2025, we wish you very happy camping with your friends and family. We encourge your thoughts and comments directed to those in charge, as we are home consoling our own children. Turning off the comments so you can spend your time emailing the contacts below. It is our hope that if enough of us share how special and important event is, the park will take appropiate action to ensure another 30 years of Hollyween fun. We are hoping to be back spooking next year.
