Because of the generosity of so many, The NV Foundation has hit the $50,000 mark for donations given! Since this mission was created back in 2016, our goal was to ensure that Nick Vanhoy still had the chance to help others facing cancer, as he had planned but sadly didn’t get to.

We can't always share the stories of who we donate to, in efforts to protect their privacy, but there is always an outpouring gratitude for the funds and the reminder that they are not facing their journeys alone.

Your support of The NV Foundation has allowed us to be a ray of hope to those that are facing some of their darkest days. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are committed to this mission for years to come and know that God has big things in store.

Part of Precision Race's Triangle Race Series, the NV Foundation is hosting its 5th annual charity 5k on April 6, 2024 at Harris Lake Park in New Hill, NC, starting at 9AM. All proceeds will go directly to individuals battling cancer. Registration includes race entry, free food and a t-shirt if registered before March 20, 2024.

Honoring the life of Nick Vanhoy by helping others facing cancer. He never complained and always smiled and chose joy, even in the most difficult times. He cherished rainbows, His promise.�

Sometimes it’s not the typical medical bills, groceries and gas that cancer patient’s families need help with; it’s sometimes help putting presents under the tree on Christmas morning. Thank you to Zach's Toy Chest and the UNC Oncology Social Work team for giving us the opportunity to be a blessing to two families with pediatric oncology patients this Christmas. Both families have two precious little boys, one with cancer and the other a sibling watching it all unfold around them. We hope we can lift the burdens for one morning and put a smile of all of their faces, along with a reminder that they aren’t in this alone and God will form armies around them for support and uplifting in times of need.🙏🏻🎁🎄

The NV Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that my wife Emily Walker and I started in 2016 in honor of Emily’s brother Nick Vanhoy. Nick was simply the best human being I have ever known. He passed away in 2016 from leukemia; this leukemia happened to be a very rare side effect of a chemo drug that he had been given to beat osteosarcoma (a different bone cancer that affects people of young ages) one year earlier. During his battle, Nick had support from friends and family, but also his employer . Schmalz made sure that Nick’s job was not lost when he missed work for treatments, and even helped with travel expenses when he had to travel to New York to meet with specialists. We adopted the moniker of Smile More Complain Less because that is purely what we witnessed Nick do during his most difficult time.

The NV Foundation was founded in this honor: to provide basic financial assistance to individuals or families that get an unthinkable diagnosis. To date, we have donated $45,947 to folks that need it. We are small, but our impact is real. We need the support of the community to facilitate this process.

Our annual 5K is an excellent opportunity to support our cause, while also getting some exercise and fresh air. This year we will hold the fourth annual 5k race at Harris Lake County Park on May 6, 2023 (t-shirt deadline is April 21, 2023). Harris Lake is a beautiful venue, and we have a competitive, yet family friendly race that is part of the {Triangle Race Series}.
