Zach's Toy Chest

Zach’s Toy Chest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to benefit children of all ages receiving care at local NC hospitals.

We provide joy and a sense of normalcy to pediatric cancer patients with new toys year-round. We started Zach's Toy Chest after our oldest son, Zach, went through treatment for stage 3, Neuroblastoma in 2008. He was 9 months old when diagnosed and is now a healthy and thriving teenager who's currently 16 years cancer-free. Because we understand exactly what kids of all ages and families are going

through when in treatment and after the main part is over, but still must go for follow-up cancer checks, we have a unique take on how we help. ZTC is the only non-profit in the Southeast US that collects and delivers new toys and other essentials to hospitals and clinics year-round. We have created a few wish lists to make it easy to shop for what the hospitals and kids need now. Please see below for the Amazon wish lists:

💛 What an incredible night, and what an incredible community! 🎅

Our 10th Annual A Summer’s Night with Santa was filled with laughter, fun, connection, and some pretty amazing memories!

This year, we had the privilege of connecting with 22 pediatric cancer families, including 8 families who were brand new to Zach’s Toy Chest®. We love seeing families who have been part of ZTC for years return, while also welcoming new families into this very special community.

And none of it happens without an incredible group of people behind it.🙌 59 volunteers gave their time between setup the night before and the event itself. They transformed the space, set up activities, served food, helped families, ran stations, cleaned up, and did a million little things that made the evening run smoothly.

One packed to the brim car. Two stops. Hundreds of smiles. 💜💛

Today, Zach's Toy Chest® traveled to Greenville to deliver joy to children at the Brody School of Medicine Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Outpatient Clinic and the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern NC.

Together, we delivered:

Every toy offers a moment of joy. Every Courage Card reminds a child they're not fighting alone. None of this would be possible without our incredible donors, volunteers, and supporters who continue to make these deliveries happen.

🇺🇸🎆 Happy Independence Day! ❤️🤍💙

Today, our nation celebrates an incredible milestone: 250 years of the United States of America. For two and a half centuries, our country has been shaped by the courage, resilience, service, and generosity of those who came before us.

As a military family, this day carries special meaning. We are especially grateful to the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our nation, along with the families who stand beside them through every sacrifice.

At Zach's Toy Chest®, we're proud to celebrate the spirit of service that makes our communities stronger. Every volunteer, donor, hospital partner, and supporter helps us bring joy and a sense of normalcy to children beginning cancer treatment, reminding us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a lasting impact.

As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, we wish you a safe and joyful Fourth of July filled with family, friends, gratitude, and hope.

On May 22, 2008, we celebrated something huge - Zachary’s last chemo treatment. 🎗️

Looking back at this photo brings back so many memories. The hospital rooms, the fear, the exhaustion, the hope…and the overwhelming feeling of finally reaching this day. At just a little guy, Zachary had already faced more than most ever should.

At the time, we had no idea this journey would one day inspire Zach’s Toy Chest - an organization dedicated to bringing joy, comfort, and moments of normalcy to children facing cancer treatment across North Carolina.

Every toy delivered, every Courage Card shared, and every smile created traces back to moments like this one.

Wrapping up his chemotherapy that day was life changing. And today, we continue fighting cancer one toy at a time because of Zach’s story. 🧸✨

What a day. ⛳🧸🎗️

This year’s Zach’s Toy Chest Golf Classic officially SOLD OUT at 30 teams - making it our biggest tournament ever!

We were incredibly lucky with beautiful weather, amazing volunteers, generous sponsors, and an incredible group of golfers who came together to support the children and families we serve.

One of the highlights of the day was auctioning off a highly sought-after bottle of Pappy Van Winkle, which helped us raise even more money for local children undergoing cancer treatment. 🥃

From the early morning setup crews to every player on the course, every sponsor, donor, volunteer, raffle participant, and supporter - THANK YOU.

Because of this amazing community, Zach’s Toy Chest can continue providing toys, games, comfort items, and moments of joy to children all year long. 🧸🎗️

This tournament was about so much more than golf. It was about showing kids and families facing cancer that they have an entire community behind them.

We are beyond grateful for everyone who helped make this our best tournament yet - and we’re already excited for next year.
