Happy 2026! Is that still allowed? 🫣

I realize our last post was from half a year ago. Let me show you some photos of what these 6 months looked like ❣️

The mini ponies are doing well. We have been busy with the daily chores: feeding, scooping p**p, regular vet appointments, farrier appointments and of course a healthy dose of brushing and cuddling!

The highs and lows:
- June made her first trip in the trailer! To the vet clinic.. She had a cough that became worse over the weeks. In December I decided it was enough and we did some checks at Reagan. Luckily nothing bad came out of it so we went back home and she's already doing much better now.
- Bibi has a new farrier who works with her with so much patience. I am extremely happy he is now able to trim her front feet without her becoming anxious and most importantly.. no sedation needed!
- Spot, Sassy and June have a new pasture friend! Meet Icee 🥰The most adorable white pony you'll ever see in your entire life! He's no rescue, we got him for our daughters.

In 2025 I had the focus on my family and all our animals. I simply didn't have the time for Social Media or anything extra than just taking care of the animals and ourselves. Some of the photos below are taken by our sweet friends Bryar and Roxy. Once I have updated the entire website ( www.bibisminirescue.org ) I can add those beautiful pictures on there as well 😊

In 2026 I hope to share more of our little rescue world again. In the first place because I want to let people know we're still going strong here! But of course also because donations basically didn't come in for about a year. It was a busy and expensive year, I'm hoping by sharing more we can also raise some donations again 🙏

Dentist visit 🦷

We're in the middle of a heatwave and we had to take Spot and Sassy to the dentist today 🥵 to say we were all hot is an understatement. BUT the routine dental check were good and we can stay on a yearly schedule for the both of them! Also, notice how sweet is Sassy keeping Spotty calm 🥹

I have posted before that 2025 is financially a difficult year for us. We're having lots of vet bills, both expected and unexpected. Today the bill was $500.

I sometimes don't know what to post here to make people realize every donation, also very small, really does make a difference for me. All the bills are paid out of my own personal account, only when we receive donations I get a little break. That's why even a $10 donation already makes me very happy!

Spot and Sassy are happily back in their pasture with June 😄 We all got home and took a much needed shower!

🥳 say Happy Birthday to June!! She turned 1 year old 🤩 it’s a rainy few days but she enjoyed treats, got a new fly mask and wore her new halter she got from Lindsey 🥰

Rain rain rain ☔️ well we needed it but North Carolina doesn’t seem to understand that a little bit of rain every now and then is fine. Not dump 2 months worth of rain into 48 hours 🙃

Anyway, our stall turned into a mud pile. So today (and tonight) Spot, Sassy and June are together. Keeping my fingers crossed Sassy will be nice to Spot 🤞🏼 we made sure there are 2 different hay stations so they don’t have to ‘fight’ for it.

Sometimes you have to be inventive! What do you do to keep your horse comfortable when there’s a lot of mud?

Expensive Q1 of 2025 for the rescue 💵

Unfortunately we started the year with expected AND unexpected vet bills. Up until so far I haven't found the time yet to share this with you. Let me give you a look into the finances so far:

🦷$225 - Dentist Bibi
🐾$160 - Farrier Spot, Sassy and Bibi
💉$400 - Vaccines Spot, Sassy, Bibi and June
❤️‍🩹$380 - EMERGENCY vet visit Sassy choked
💊$180 - Medicine Bibi diarrhea

TOTAL of $1.345 just on medical bills! If I would add board and feed bills onto this we have already spent close to $4.000 and we're not even half way the year.

With me having my baby earlier this year I didn't make money working so all the expenses came out of my savings. Don't get me wrong, I will spent every penny I have on these little ones when needed, but donations are not just welcome. They're needed 🙏

Luckily all minis are doing good at the moment, but we have more medical bills coming up. Spot and Sassy have their dentist appointment in June for example.

Yay! The shelter got upgraded 🤩 the left side is now enclosed as well, and we have a gate that’s actually the correct size!

We use the stall so we can separate the minis during lunch time, that way they can all eat in peace. We also keep Sassy and Spot separated since they don’t get along well and it stresses out Spotty. That means June is mostly with Spot but she gets to hang out with Sassy twice a day as well 😊

Made it out to see my furry friends again 🥰 with this cold and both our kids being sniffy 🤧 plus me still recovering I haven’t been able to come out everyday. No worries tho, my mother in law is at the barn both mornings and evenings to do all the chores. She’s a true angel!

On these cold days we always make sure to bring warm drinking water and mix it with replenimash. The minis and Action absolutely love it and it’s just such a great way to keep them hydrated 💧

What do you do to make sure your horse drinks enough water when it’s either very cold ❄️ or hot 🥵?

Look who came out to meet the minis and Action 🥰 little Willow slept trough it all but hey that’s the life of a new born 💖

Also, notice the grass is finally growing again 🌱 can’t wait for spring to be here!

On a more serious note, my recovery is going to take longer than the last time I went trough labor. Nothing to worry about, but I will have to wait a few more weeks before I can go back to work. In the meantime all the bills just keep coming in. The regular costs like board, grain, medicine and supplements. But we also have spring vaccines coming up, the dentist and the farrier. We’re in need of donations 🙏

Oh this cold front coming in is NO joke! 🥶 the icicles were hanging on the horses fur and manes 🧊 we brought buckets full of warm water to give them hot meals and warm drinking water 🩵 now fingers crossed they do well trough another couple extreme cold nights and days ❄️

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🎊

I can't believe it has been 5 months since our last update in August. Life has been very busy and I simply had to prioritize. For those who are on Instagram, I'm a little more active there with updates so definitely follow us there.

The daily routine at the barn has been taking a lot of my time. At the moment June is being weaned from her mom Sassy. Sassy told it us was time for the baby to leave her alone. That means I have to be at the barn in the mornings and in the evenings to make sure to keep the 2 separate but also to give all the minis enough time outside of their stall.

Action and Bibi have a new shelter! 😍 The old one needed to be replaced since Action was rubbing too much on it and it started to lean over. They now have a beautiful and very sturdy new shelter which he won't be able to push over in time.

I think the main reason why I haven't found the time to post here is because I'm in the last weeks of my pregnancy. Working an almost full time job, being a mom of a toddler, running a rescue and preparing for baby number 2 has been taking up all my time. Without the help of my husband, my mother in law and Emory (she's our babysitter and volunteers at the rescue 🥰) I wouldn't be able to keep up.

That sadly does mean we have not received any donations over the past few months. Of course that is totally understandable since I haven't been active online, but the rescues expenses obviously didn't stand still. The vet was at the rescue in November for coggins, vaccines, f***l exams and blood tests. The bill was $522 in total. I also had to order Spots medicine for Cushing's disease again, another $98. Then Sassy and Bibi needed their medicine for their intestines, another $180.
That is all on top of our regular monthly costs like feed, board and farrier (roughly $600 every month).

Now that I have to take a break from my job because of my pregnancy that means we could really use some donations 🙏

I know the December month is always an expensive one for everybody, but even if you have a few dollars left, please consider making a donation!
