Community Food Bank of San Benito County

Community Food Bank of San Benito County We provide food, nutritional education and advocacy for our neighbors in need within San Benito County. Visit www.communityfoodbankofsbc.org.

Community Food Bank is a non-profit organization that collects and distributes food to people in our community who have difficulty purchasing enough food to avoid hunger and/or malnutrition. Community Food Bank also offers food to local non-profit organizations whose mission is to help similar people in the community. The food that Community Food Bank distributes comes from local grocery and retai

l stores, like Safeway, Nob Hill, Lucky, and Target, from local growers like Phil Foster, Coke Farms, Heirloom Organics, and Shingai Farms, and local community members just like you. Community Food Bank is also a member of Ag Against Hunger in Salinas, which collects and redistributes surplus produce from across the central valley and central coast. Community Food Bank distributes over 1,000,000 pounds of food each year, most of which would otherwise be thrown away. Community Food Bank is more than just food distribution center. We are a community leader in helping people in San Benito County who are struggling to make ends meet. From motivating city and county officials to protect programs to examining root causes of poverty, Community Food Bank creates tailored, responsive programs for clients, volunteers, donors, and non-profits. Many factors can go into why a person needs food assistance and the Community Food Bank is there to help.

Thank you to everyone that donated during our Feeding Families on the Central Coast telethon! 🧡

Because of your generosity, kindness, and support, we were able to give back to our community in a meaningful way. Every dollar raised was donated to our community FoodBank to help fund programs and provide meals for families who need them most.

Food is more than a meal, it brings comfort, hope, and dignity. Thanks to you, more families will have access to that support during difficult times.

This fundraiser was a reminder of what can happen when a community comes together for a common cause. We are incredibly grateful for every person who played a part in making this possible.

Thank you for helping us make a difference, Community FoodBank of San Benito is lucky to build dignity, share abundance, and nourish lives alongside such an amazing community.🌟

Proud to share that the Community FoodBank of San Benito’s Associate Director of Operations, Lisa De La Cruz, served as a panelist at the California Association of Food Banks Food ACCESS Conference, where she discussed how food banks can partner with small local farmers in generative partnerships that sustain local economies!🤝🍓

These partnerships are a powerful example of community in action. When food banks and local farmers work together, families gain access to fresh, nutritious food while local growers receive reliable support that helps keep their farms thriving. By investing in these relationships, we strengthen our local economy, reduce food insecurity, and build a healthier future for everyone. 🌱🧡

This week, the team at the Community FoodBank of San Benito was in Sacramento alongside the California Association of Food Banks advocating for our legislative champions to support a budget that prioritizes fighting food insecurity through CalFood funding. ✊🏽

Together, we are determined that the most vulnerable people in San Benito not be left behind during a time of increased need, rapidly rising cost of living, and dramatic reductions to the programs upon which they and their families rely.

Whether in San Benito or the capital, we are…

Building dignity. Sharing abundance. Nourishing lives❤️
