I am sorry to say the Hollister Free Wheelers are no longer in action. I will be announcing this officially this week, although we truly ended several months ago. The full letter that I'm releasing to the local information resources will be posted to my personal FB page. This has been like an obituary for me. The program has passed away quietly in its sleep. We appreciate all the support and love we have received from all of you out there. We will always cherish this journey and appreciate the role everyone has played in making it so memorable. Farewell

We are sorry to say that we have closed our program and its supporting non-profit. I am releasing this announcement to the information network in this area officially this week, although our program has been out of circulation for several months. The letter I'm releasing to the general public will be attached to my personal FB page (Susan Jones). This has been like an obituary to me. The program has passed quietly in its sleep. We appreciate all the kinds words through the years and all the amazing support. Farewell.

Preparing for a huge media push in an attempt to save the power soccer program that we have put our hearts and souls into for the past 18+ years. Wish us luck.

Well we did it. Two very generous people (I won't mention their names here because that doesn't seem proper) stepped up and got us all the way to within $100 of covering our costs for our trip ti Fort Wayne, Indiana...which is where I'm posting this from. We are happy to make up that difference out of pocket. Thanks to you both.

The tournament has been quite the roller coaster ride so far. We have played 5 games with results being: 2-2-1 (Wins-Losses-Ties). This has brought us to tomorrow's game against our local rivals, San Jose. We will be playing for the honor of taking home a Third Place trophy in the Champions Cup Tournament. You can check out this game, and a couple others at http://livestream.com/powersoccershop/champscup15

Our deepest gratitude goes out to the families of our players who give so much so that our guys can enjoy these types of events, to the individuals and businesses who donated to our team allowing us to bring 5 of our players out to this tournament to compete and represent our organization so incredibly well, and to the athletes themselves who make us proud everyday to be a part of their world.

Despite all of our best efforts, we are only 4 days away from our trip to Indiana for the National Championship and we find ourselves about $1,200 short of what we need to cover all our expenses. The flights are booked and paid for, the registration for the tournament is paid for, the rooms and the accessible vans are all arranged...but not yet paid for. These last two items only charge when you get there. If anyone can help in any way, we'd love to hear from you. If you cannot help financially, we'll take prayers/positive thinking/good thoughts. Whatever you got.

Thanks so much and a special thanks for all those who contributed up until this point. This could have been a whole lot worse without you.

Sorry for the delay, but for those of you who have been wondering, the team did very well this past Saturday at our last home games this season. After two very exciting, competitive, and nail-biting match-ups, the Free Wheelers came away with a 3-2 win over San Jose and a 4-2 win against the team from Berkeley area. All of our players: Shane Arzie, Chad Arzie, Chad Bojorquez, Luis Garcia, Tim McPheeters, Frank Romero, and Carlos Vazquez, made a great showing. Everyone had moment after moment of individual brilliance on the court, while all of them came together to work as one, in true team fashion. We couldn't be more proud.

We also had the pleasure of having Ericka join us from KION (our local CBS station). She was very delightful and took quite an interest in our organization. The news ran a short piece on our team, their accomplishments and challenges. The link cuts a little off the beginning and end, but what we can see is very well done.

Our Third Annual "Traveling Silent Auction" opened yesterday. I truly hope all our local friends and family get a chance to get out there and bid on these items. They are spectacular to see in person. The list of locations has been posted in the community calendar in the FreeLance paper. Still working on posting the flyer today. Happy bidding everyone.

Wow, what a great day of games yesterday! We played in the San Jose/Alviso area. First game against the San Jose team was hard-fought but San Jose won that game. The other two games, vs. SoCal from the Santa Barbara area and BORP from the Berkeley area, were won by the Hollister Free Wheelers! All three games were some of the best power soccer any of us have seen locally in very long time. Thanks go out to everyone who hosted in San Jose. We always feel very welcome there and the lunch was delicious. Thanks also go to the referees who do a great job in keeping the games safe and fair.

A new article in the San Benito Link is now available on-line. It's a great summary of who we are, what we've done in the past, and what we are doing presently. Please take a few moments to read. this. We think you'll find it quite interesting.
